The KISTLER Big Country Fishing Rod is an extra-heavy casting rod built specifically for throwing big swimbaits and glide baits. At 7'10" with a full-length Grade "A" cork handle, it's built for the leverage needed to cast and control heavy baits while still carrying Kistler's signature sensitivity through the blank.
The blank is KISTLER KC8 100% Japanese carbon by Toray, high modulus, matched to a moderate action that keeps hooks pinned on big, treble-light baits rather than ripping them free. It's rated for 25-80 lb mono or fluorocarbon (or 85 lb braid) and 2-8 oz lures, and it's built to handle big swimbaits, glide baits, underspins, carolina and texas rigs, creature baits, big shaky heads, magnum worms 10 inches and up, flipping jigs, and football jigs. Target species include bass, catfish, and striper.
The KISTLER Big Country Fishing Rod is a 7'10" extra-heavy casting rod built specifically for big swimbaits and glide baits, along with heavier presentations like flipping jigs, football jigs, and magnum worms 10 inches and up.
Its moderate action is deliberate for this application, it loads slower than a fast-action rod, which helps keep a fish pinned on a big, often treble-light bait rather than pulling it free on the take.
The KISTLER Big Country Fishing Rod is rated for 25-80 lb mono or fluorocarbon, or 85 lb braid, and 2-8 oz lures. That covers big swimbaits, glide baits, underspins, carolina and texas rigs, creature baits, big shaky heads, and flipping or football jigs.
KISTLER does not publish a rod weight or piece count for this model, so we don't have verified numbers to give you there.
The blank is KISTLER's KC8 100% Japanese carbon by Toray, high modulus. Guides are KIGAN stainless steel in a conventional size built for heavy line, and the reel seat is Fuji graphite with an exposed trigger.
The handle is Grade "A" cork running the full 15 inches from the reel seat to the butt cap, sized to give you two-handed leverage on long casts and hard hooksets with heavy baits.
KISTLER lists bass, catfish, and striper as target species for the Big Country Fishing Rod, matching its extra-heavy power and big-bait lure range. Striper fishing often means brackish or saltwater exposure, and KISTLER confirms the rod is fine for saltwater use.
KISTLER recommends rinsing and wiping the rod down with fresh water after every saltwater trip to protect the guides and reel seat.
KISTLER backs the Big Country Fishing Rod with its "Bend-Strong" Limited Lifetime Warranty. Every rod is built by hand in Texas.
KISTLER's product page does not publish the full written terms, coverage exclusions, or claims process for this warranty, so we can't state those specifics here. Contact us and we'll get you the exact terms before you buy if that's a deciding factor.
