I originally had a different paddle in mind that was fiberglass, as I am very familiar with a variety of Fiberglass products, however ECO recommending this Backwater Assassin Carbon Fiber and I immediately noticed the weight difference. Very light in the hand which is essentially much better for those long trips. I have experience with kayaking but so very long ago, this is my first bought Paddle, however, I have not had the chance to use it as I just recently bought a Frontier 12 and awaiting for it to ship. ECO answered ALL my questions and thoughts, really helped me and was a HUGE help as I'm getting back into Kayaking after so long. I am very impressed by ECO as well as this Backwater Assassin Carbon Fiber Paddle and the best thing is that it is Adjustable. I really love the clamp down style of the adjustable piece rather than those Push in metal button kind. I feel like those push in button types are not as stiff and fell a slight wobble within the paddle shaft. THIS is super stiff and I absolutely love it. I highly recommend it. If an adjustable one is not really one you're looking for, talk to the guys at ECO and they will definitely help you get the perfect one for you.

Amazing kayak for fishing or whatever tracks true and easy to paddle if need be in shallow water. First time using it felt like I had used it forever.
First time out of the box it took some time to get it ready to paddle but now that I know how I do it it's quick and easy to get it open and on the water. And once I got the seat height and foot rest adjusted to the right positions -- super easy to do -- the kayaking was a dream. Light enough to carry as far as you need to go from parking lot to water. Easy to toss into the trunk or back seat of a car. A dream to paddle. Highest recommendation!

I purchased this motor to make getting upstream on my Crescent Smallie a lot easier and to allow me to not have to worry about shuttling vehicles or scheduling pick-ups on solo outings. It’s performed as well as I’d want it to. So much so that I wanted to see what it could do on a fully loaded Frontier 12 with the Xi3. It does not disappoint on the much heavier kayak. Speeds up to 5.2 on the Nucanoe.
Just ordered the NK 180 HD from Newport (sorry, EFS—you guys didn’t have it in stock and I’m not patient) so I don’t have to keep stripping and reassembling the motor whenever I move it from one kayak to the other.
My only gripe is that I wish it had a rudder foil. I added one I found off amazon and that really helps with tracking and steering.
Perfect fit for the NK throttle unit. The little black cap thingys help keep the unit from wiggling and keeping it in the track.
The price is obscene, but it’s a nice attachment on my Nucanoe’s seat. Not having to reach for my NK throttle was the selling point and the tool/lure caddy features are a nice bonus.
This makes connecting my NK a breeze and it’s easy to remove when I want to use my QuickConnect rudder. The kick-up feature is another selling point.
I will be very honest. My crecent ck2 came in great shape but missing certain little things. But the guys at eco fishing figured it all out, told me crecent was changing warehouses, then overnighted me the couple little things I needed. Called me personally to ensure I was taken care of and I am very happy with them and the experience. Awesome dudes for sure. Cant wait to get on the water!
This is my second old town yak from ecofishingshop.com, my first was a sportsman pdl 12 which is awesome but a tad slower and doesn’t turn as quickly. It is super stable and has all the fishing features you’d want. Thought I’d try the Malibu 12 pdl and I’m very impressed how quickly it turns and how it takes a little less effort to generate speed. It’s also much more stable than what I’ve expected from reading reviews. I took it outside the jetty on a very windy day with 2-3 foot swells no problem! You might get some sea spray if the wind is high but so would the sportsman. The pedal drive is the best in the business, smooth and solid with big steel gears in it. I added some marine grease to the top gear but that’s just me being particular. Came wrapped in double plastic and zero damage. Add a fish finder and two yak attack AR rod holders for trolling, a cooler in the back, tackle box under the seat and a waterproof Bluetooth speaker and you’re set for a great day of salt water fishing! Love it!
Even though the wheels are made from plastic this thing is built tough. Very happy with purchase for my Oldtown PDL
