Bixpy N-3 Outboard Motor

Meet the newest addition to the Bixpy lineup: the Bixpy N-3 Outboard Motor, a rugged, electric 3HP outboard built for serious adventure. Designed for boats between 8 and 14 feet, the N-3 is perfect for jon boats, dinghies, tenders, inflatables, and other small watercraft that demand more.

Available in two shaft lengths, the N-3 lets you choose the right fit for your vessel and setup:Short Shaft (22.5" / 572mm): Ideal for boats with shorter transoms or Long Shaft (27.3" / 693mm): Perfect for boats with higher transom plate - like sailboats.

With a high-efficiency brushless motor at its core, the N-3 delivers instant torque, whisper-quiet operation, and zero emissions. Whether you're navigating tight marinas or open bays, this motor gives you the freedom to go further, faster, and with more ease.

Because to us, it’s not just about moving your boat—it’s about moving your spirit. Built for those who defy limits — not just push them. The Bixpy N-3 is more than just an outboard motor—it’s a declaration of freedom on the water.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types and sizes of boats is the Bixpy N-3 designed for?

The Bixpy N-3 is intended primarily for boats of roughly 8 to 14 feet — jon boats, dinghies, tenders, inflatables and small sailboats. Treat that range as a guide rather than a guarantee of fit. The deciding factors are whether your watercraft is rated for a 3-horsepower-equivalent outboard, whether the transom will take the bracket and carry the system's weight, and whether the transom height suits one of the two shaft lengths. Check your capacity plate first. If any of that is unclear, contact Eco Fishing Shop with the boat's make, model and transom measurements before ordering.

Should I choose the short-shaft or long-shaft N-3, and how should the motor sit on the transom?

Choose by measured transom height, not by boat category. The short-shaft N-3 measures 22.5 inches (572 mm) and the long-shaft version 27.3 inches (693 mm). Mount the motor on the centerline of the transom plate for even weight distribution, and aim to have the cavitation plate sit about 4 inches (100 mm) below the waterline once the boat is loaded as you normally run it. Too shallow and the propeller ventilates and loses bite; too deep adds drag. Measure with the boat loaded, and call 844-987-5777 if the correct shaft is not clear-cut.

What does the N-3's 1.2 kW or 3 HP equivalent rating actually mean?

The N-3 is rated at 1.2 kilowatts of output, and "3 HP equivalent" positions it against a small gasoline outboard in propulsive terms. It is a comparison, not a promise that the N-3 will match a specific 3 HP gas motor's speed on your boat. The brushless motor delivers torque from a standing start differently from a combustion engine, so the two behave differently even at similar rated output. Real-world speed depends on hull shape and displacement, total payload, hull and propeller condition, mounting depth, wind, current, battery state of charge and throttle setting.

What is included with the N-3 kit?

The N-3 kit includes the N-3 motor with its transom bracket, the NB-1440 power pack, the magnetic kill switch and a universal wall charger. The optional fast charger is a separate purchase, as are spare propellers, anodes and a second battery. The NB-1440 battery is a 36-volt, 1440 watt-hour lithium pack. A second compatible NB-1440 can extend operating time by allowing a battery swap, but it is sold separately. Owner documentation for the motor and the pack is published on the Bixpy user manual library.

What information does the N-3 display show?

The tiller-mounted LCD reports the pack's approximate remaining charge as a percentage, current ground speed, instantaneous power draw, an estimate of remaining operating time or range, and system alerts or error codes. The remaining-time estimate is calculated from what the motor is drawing at that moment, so it moves as you change throttle — easing off will make the figure jump up, and opening the throttle will make it fall sharply. Read it as a live estimate for the speed you are holding right now, not as a fixed reserve you can plan a return leg around.

What runtime should I expect from the N-3 and its NB-1440 battery?

The published estimate is up to approximately 72 minutes at full power on a fully charged NB-1440. That is a rated estimate rather than a result you should count on: installation, boat weight and load, hull condition, wind, current and the battery's age and state of health all move it. Running at a lower throttle generally extends operating time, but no part-throttle duration is guaranteed. The system also reduces its maximum power output once the pack reaches approximately 30 percent charge, so plan the return leg before reaching that point.

How long does the N-3 battery take to charge, and how should it be stored?

The included standard charger takes roughly eight hours from a low state of charge; the optional fast charger cuts that to roughly two hours. Use only an approved Bixpy charger — a substitute is a real fire risk and puts coverage at risk. For longer storage, follow the charge and maintenance instructions in the owner documentation rather than putting the pack away empty: around 60 percent charge in a cool, dry place, with a full charge and discharge cycle roughly every six months. Contact Eco Fishing Shop before shipping or returning any lithium battery, as carriers restrict them.

Can the N-3 be used in saltwater, and what maintenance does it require?

Yes, the N-3 is built for both freshwater and saltwater use, but saltwater brings a maintenance routine with it. Rinse the motor thoroughly with fresh water after every saltwater outing. Inspect the sacrificial anode before each use and replace it as soon as it shows meaningful wear — it is a consumable that protects everything else. Check the propeller, propeller pin and propeller nut regularly and replace anything damaged or deformed. Keep unmated connector ports capped and out of the water. An IP67 rating describes sealed, correctly assembled components; it does not make the system impervious to water damage or corrosion.

How do trim, tilt, the magnetic kill switch and the N-3's protective shutdowns work?

The N-3 bracket offers four trim positions — 0, 5, 10 and 15 degrees — to set the shaft angle relative to the transom, plus a tilt range of up to 75 degrees for shallow water, beaching and trailering. The motor will not start unless the magnetic kill switch is in place, and pulling the magnet stops and powers down the motor immediately, so clip the lanyard to yourself. The system also protects itself: it throttles down on unusually high motor or battery temperature, stops if current draw is higher than expected or the propeller jams with weed or debris, and reduces maximum power near low charge.

What warranty coverage applies to the N-3?

The N-3 motor and its battery carry one year of limited coverage from the date of original purchase, for the original retail purchaser who bought through an authorized dealer. It covers defects in materials and workmanship arising in normal recreational use with proper maintenance, and it is non-transferable. Keep your dated proof of purchase, and obtain a return authorization before sending anything back — unauthorized returns can be refused, and lithium batteries cannot be shipped without prior arrangement. Commercial and rental use is generally excluded unless expressly authorized in writing; accident, misuse and unauthorized repair are also outside standard coverage. The written terms govern; read them on the Bixpy warranty terms page.
