I don’t fear flip my kayak by myself in the water but motor boat drivers who don’t pay attention do scare me. Battery tray is peace of mind not losing my $200+ battery to the bottom of the lake if it happens. Well made great fit and secure. My battery box has connection near bottom so I did use thick rubber mat to raise it so lip didn’t block my port.
