What boats and water types is the Garmin Force Pro designed for?
The Force Pro is a bow-mount trolling motor designed for freshwater, brackish water and saltwater, fitted to the bow deck of boats that can carry a 50- or 57-inch shaft, such as bass and multi-species rigs. The bow deck has to be strong enough for the motor's weight and working loads, so a backing plate or reinforcement is often needed. The mount installs with its bumper overhanging the gunwale and the deployed motor as close to the boat's centerline as the deck allows, with clear travel between the stowed and deployed positions and no large metal objects near the display panel, which can disturb the compass and autopilot. How should I choose between the 50-inch and 57-inch Force Pro shaft?
Choosing a Force Pro shaft starts with a measurement, not with your boat's length. Measure from the top of the bow mounting surface down to the waterline with the boat loaded the way you fish it, then add enough shaft to keep the propeller well submerged when the bow rises and the water turns choppy. Freeboard, mounting height, load and typical conditions all move the answer, so no shaft length follows from overall boat length alone. The 50-inch suits lower-freeboard bow decks; the 57-inch suits taller bows or rougher water. A shaft that is too short ventilates and loses bite. How much thrust does the Force Pro produce at 24 volts versus 36 volts?
The Force Pro is rated for a maximum of 80 pounds of thrust at 24 volts and 100 pounds of thrust at 36 volts, each figure measured per ISO 13342 with the high-efficiency propeller fitted, in relatively calm water and with the motor deployed deeply enough not to ventilate. Those are static forward-thrust figures from a defined test, not a boat-speed or range claim: hull weight, wind, current and battery condition all decide what the motor does on your water. The published thrust ratings use the included high-efficiency propeller; a weedless propeller is also included for fishing around vegetation. A 36-volt bank reaches the higher published maximum thrust. Choose the battery-bank design based on the desired thrust, battery chemistry and capacity, available space, weight and charging setup.
What battery setup and circuit protection does the Force Pro require?
The Force Pro connects to a 24- or 36-volt battery bank capable of supplying 60 amps continuously, and it must be wired through a circuit breaker rated for 60 amps continuous, which is not included. Published input is 20 to 45 Vdc at 60 amps continuous, so the breaker needs a rating of 42 Vdc or greater. Batteries, a charger, the breaker and any cable extension are separate purchases, and a trolling-motor plug and receptacle rated for 60 amps or more can be fitted for convenience. Is the GT56UHD-TR transducer included with the Force Pro, and what sonar does it support?
Yes — both Force Pro configurations on this page ship with the GT56UHD-TR transducer built into the motor's lower unit. It supports traditional High-Wide CHIRP sonar from 140 to 240 kHz, plus ClearVü and SideVü scanning at 455 kHz, 800 kHz and 1 MHz, with 350 watts of traditional transmit power and 500 watts on each scanning channel. Actual depth and side range depend on frequency, water salinity, bottom type and other water conditions. Viewing that sonar requires a compatible Garmin chartplotter with a matching 12-pin sonar port, and no chartplotter is included here. LiveScope live sonar is a separate system and is bought separately.
What controls come with the Force Pro?
The Force Pro configurations on this page include both the floating wireless remote and the wireless foot pedal, so no control accessory has to be added before the motor can be used. The remote uses point-and-go gesture steering and a 1.2-inch sunlight-visible color display; the foot pedal measures 12 by 9 by 4.5 inches and has adjustable pedal resistance. A compatible Garmin chartplotter can also drive the motor once the two are paired and the chartplotter is on its latest software, and a compatible Garmin smartwatch can control steering, anchor lock and more from the wrist. Chartplotters and watches are sold separately.
How do Anchor Lock and chartplotter integration work on the Force Pro?
Anchor Lock uses the Force Pro's built-in multi-band GPS and heading sensor to steer and run the propeller automatically so the boat holds a position, and the anchored spot can be nudged with the remote's arrow keys or by gesture. Heading Hold, Cruise Control and route following work the same way, and every autopilot mode needs a GPS fix and a calibrated motor compass before it will engage. Chartplotter integration is wireless: the chartplotter hosts the network and must be running its latest software, and where several are installed only one can be the host. Once paired, the trolling motor bar on the chartplotter controls the motor and follows routes.
What comes in the Force Pro box, and what has to be bought separately?
This page's Force Pro configurations include the motor with its built-in GT56UHD-TR transducer, the wireless remote, the wireless foot pedal, a high-efficiency propeller, a weedless propeller, a stabilizer, assembly and mounting hardware, and documentation. Bought separately: the 24- or 36-volt batteries, a battery charger, the required 60-amp continuous circuit breaker, any chartplotter or smartwatch you want to pair, and any LiveScope equipment. How long will the Force Pro run on a charge?
The Force Pro has no single published runtime and we will not invent one, because runtime depends on the usable capacity and chemistry of your battery bank, its age and state of charge, the speed settings you use, hull weight, wind, current, and how much of the day the motor spends holding position. What is published is current draw: the motor is rated at 60 amps continuous, and draw climbs steeply as propeller speed rises, so most fishing days are spent well below maximum. What warranty applies to the Force Pro?
The Force Pro carries a three-year limited warranty from the date of first purchase for recreational, noncommercial use, reduced to one year where the motor is put to any commercial use, and the composite shaft carries coverage for the lifetime of the original customer under noncommercial use. That shaft coverage is nontransferable and removal and installation costs fall to the owner. Corrosion is excluded, as is damage from inadequate cleaning or improper service of a motor used in salt or brackish water, so rinsing with fresh water after every trip is part of keeping coverage.
