2026 Hurricane Osprey 120 Recreational Kayak

The Osprey 120 is built for paddlers who want a high-performing kayak without the weight. At just 43 lbs and 12'2", it's easy to load, launch, and paddle — whether you're hitting the water for the first time or you've logged hundreds of miles. The Osprey 120 will give you all the performance you demand in a lightweight package.

The all-new Relax hull delivers exceptional efficiency, superior tracking, and rock-solid stability, so you spend less energy correcting your line and more time enjoying the ride.

Gear Up. Bring Everyone. The Osprey 120's premium open floor plan is designed to handle a full day out. A large rear tankwell fits big soft-sided coolers with ease, while the bow deck K-9 Comfort Pad means your dog rides in style. Bottle rests behind the seat and the new H-pod keeps everything organized and within reach — including your four-legged adventure buddy.

Sit Higher. Paddle Smarter. The new elevated seat system places you at a higher paddling point, giving you better sightlines and a more commanding, comfortable position on the water — whether you're exploring a calm lake, cruising a river, or spending a leisurely day with your dog by your side.

Hurricane Osprey 120 Features

Frequently Asked Questions About the Hurricane Osprey 120

Who is the Hurricane Osprey 120 best suited for?

The Osprey 120 suits a solo paddler who wants a longer recreational sit-on-top for lakes, protected flatwater, and slow-moving non-whitewater rivers. At 12 feet 2 inches long and 31.5 inches wide, its hull is designed around tracking and paddling efficiency, so it holds a line with less corrective effort on longer outings. The elevated frame seat raises your sightlines, the open floor plan and large stern tankwell take a full day of gear, and the bow K-9 Comfort Pad makes room for a dog.

How does the Osprey 120 compare with the Osprey 109?

The Osprey 120 and the Hurricane Osprey 109 share the same 43-pound published hull weight, roughly 47 pounds with the removable frame seat installed, and the same 325-pound published capacity. The 120 measures 12 feet 2 inches long and 31.5 inches wide, and its added hull length is designed around tracking and paddling efficiency. The Osprey 109 measures 10 feet 9.5 inches by 33 inches, with a more compact footprint and an emphasis on maneuverability. Neither model is universally better. Choose by storage space, vehicle and rack setup, the water you paddle, the pet and gear you carry, and the handling you prefer.

How much does the Osprey 120 weigh with and without the seat?

The Osprey 120 has a published hull weight of 43 pounds, and the removable elevated frame seat adds about 4 pounds, so a seat-installed setup weighs approximately 47 pounds. Paddles, life jackets, a cooler, and other gear add more to every carry. Whether one person can safely lift and load it depends on strength, technique, vehicle height, rack design, and conditions, so plan the carry in advance. Taking the seat out before loading lowers what you have to lift.

What should buyers know about the 325-pound capacity of the Osprey 120?

The published capacity of the Osprey 120 is 325 pounds, but the public specification does not break down its calculation method. Plan conservatively by accounting for the paddler, the installed seat, a pet, a cooler, and all carried gear, and leave operating margin rather than loading to the maximum. A heavily loaded kayak sits lower and handles differently. If your expected setup is close to 325 pounds, contact Eco Fishing Shop and we will help you evaluate the configuration before you order.

How does the removable elevated frame seat on the Osprey 120 work?

The Osprey 120 uses an elevated frame seat that mounts to the deck with camlock hardware and lifts out when you want it out. The raised position improves sightlines on open water, and the Sealect Designs angled foot-brace system is built around that seated height. Bottle rests sit behind the seat for easy reach. The seat accounts for about 4 pounds of the roughly 47-pound seat-installed weight, so removing it makes carrying, car-topping, and storing the kayak easier.

Can a dog ride on the Osprey 120?

A dog can ride on the bow K-9 Comfort Pad, within limits. The Osprey 120 remains a one-person kayak rather than a tandem, and the pad is not a second passenger seat. A pet changes balance and handling, and its weight plus your gear has to be counted conservatively against the published 325-pound capacity. No breed or size is guaranteed to fit. Start in calm, shallow water, keep your dog clear of the paddle stroke and foot braces, and secure loose gear.

What storage and accessory-mounting features are included on the Osprey 120?

The Osprey 120 includes a gasketed H-Pod bucket within reach of the seat, a large stern tankwell with bungee that takes a soft-sided cooler or dry bag, a four-inch gear track for a camera or other accessory mount, bottle rests behind the seat, and an open floor plan with footwell pads. The H-Pod is gasketed and water resistant rather than guaranteed dry, so keep phones, keys, electronics, and medication in a dry bag on every trip.

What types of water is the Osprey 120 designed for?

The Osprey 120 is a recreational kayak for lakes, ponds, protected flatwater, slow-moving non-whitewater rivers, and calm inshore or sheltered water when conditions and paddler ability suit the day. Paddling, light fishing, and wildlife observation all fit it. Hurricane kayaks must not be used in whitewater rapids, not even Class I, and the Osprey 120 is not intended for surf launches, exposed offshore water, or rough-water touring. Wear a USCG-approved life jacket and check conditions before every launch.

How should the Osprey 120 be transported, cleaned, and stored?

Carry the Osprey 120 in a J-hook cradle, on kayak saddles, or upside down on padded rack bars, secured with cam straps or appropriate rope, with bow and stern tie-downs where suitable. Do not use ratchet straps, because sustained pressure can damage a thermoformed hull. Move it on a padded strap-style cart that supports the hull rather than a scupper cart, and do not launch over rollers. The acrylic-capped ABS Trylon hull is abrasion resistant, so rinse it after saltwater use and clean it with mild dish soap, but never acetone or other solvent cleaners. Store it dry, shaded, and off the ground on padded supports. Full guidance is in the Hurricane owner's manual.

What warranty coverage comes with the Osprey 120?

The Osprey 120 carries a three-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, limited to the original owner and to purchases from a certified dealer such as Eco Fishing Shop. Online registration is required for the coverage to be in effect. Kayaks used commercially are covered for one year. The customer pays return transportation, freight, and packaging charges. Coverage excludes freight damage, improper storage, improper use, abuse, towing, scupper-cart damage, normal wear, and color fading from UV exposure. Full terms are on the Hurricane warranty page.
