A trailer designed for commercial and large scale kayak and canoe transport. The MegaSport™ Outfitter meets the tough requirements for high load capacity, heavy duty construction, Five Year Limited Warranty and affordable cost containment. Includes 8" x 10" full size spare tire with locking attachment.
Commercial and large-scale transport — liveries, outfitters, camps, clubs and programs moving fleets of kayaks and canoes rather than a household's two or three boats. The three-tier bar system is the whole point: it stacks boats vertically instead of demanding trailer length.
The construction reflects that use. It runs a 2,000-pound rated axle with heavy duty leaf spring suspension under a 1,000-pound load rating, on 11-gauge marine-grade galvanized steel. At 446 pounds empty it is the heaviest trailer we list.
The lower and middle bars are 86 inches wide; the top bar is 55 inches. That narrower top tier keeps the highest boats inboard, where they are more stable and easier to reach.
In practice you load heaviest boats on the lower tier and lightest on top. The tiers do not each carry the trailer's full rating: the 1,000-pound total covers all three levels combined, along with the bars, hardware, straps and anything else on the frame. Loading tier by tier to a notional per-tier figure is how trailers get overloaded.
1,000 pounds in total across all three tiers. Count every boat on every level, plus carriers, foam, straps, paddles and any gear, and keep the combined figure under that number.
A dozen light recreational kayaks and eight heavy fishing boats are very different loads on the same trailer. It is not a per-boat or per-tier allowance. Weigh a representative boat from your fleet, multiply, and leave margin. Your tow vehicle and hitch have separate limits and the lowest applicable figure governs the trip.
Two 8-by-10-inch high-speed galvanized wheels and tires rated at 1,650 pounds each, the reinforced tongue, the three-tier load bar system with hardware, a full-size spare tire with locking attachment, a galvanized crank-assisted 1,000-pound jack stand with a 5.5-inch wheel, a Class II 2-inch coupler with safety chains, DOT-approved lighting and sealed bearings, a pre-tested electrical system, pre-fitted chassis components, and the manual with registration paperwork.
Boat carriers are not included, so fleet operators can specify their own combination of bunks, saddles, cradles and foam.
The trailer coupler requires a 2-inch-diameter hitch ball, and the top of that ball should sit 16 inches from the ground so the trailer tows level. That is the trailer's side of the connection. The electrical connection is a standard 4-pin connector.
Your vehicle needs a hitch with a receiver, a ball mount that fits that receiver, and a 2-inch ball fitted to the ball mount. A receiver does not take a ball directly, and receiver size is a separate matter from ball diameter — a 2-inch ball does not mean you need a 2-inch receiver. Hitch, receiver, ball mount, ball and tow vehicle must each be rated for the loaded trailer, and the lowest rating in that chain governs.
For commercial use, also confirm what your jurisdiction requires of trailers used in a business — that can bring registration, marking and inspection obligations recreational use does not.
Yes. It arrives unassembled as a multi-boxed item, typically ten cartons, with illustrated instructions. The three-tier bar system is the bulk of the build, and it is a two-person job in practice.
Carton count and shipping method can vary by configuration. Inspect the shipment against the supplied documentation before starting, keep the paperwork envelope with your fleet records, and report anything missing or damaged promptly at sales@ecofishingshop.com.
Everything on a recreational trailer's list, done more often. Before each trip: lights, coupler and pin, crossed safety chains, lug nuts, condition of all three tires including the spare, jack stand retracted, and every strap on every tier. Service the wheel bearings on the schedule in your documentation, and treat high mileage and frequent ramp launching as a reason to inspect more often rather than less. Rinse frame, wheels, bars and hardware after salt water or road salt.
Inflate to the Malone-recommended cold pressure for this trailer, 35 to 40 PSI, checked before towing while the tires are cold, and follow the trailer documentation and current manufacturer specification. A sidewall maximum is not the recommended operating pressure — read the sidewall for tire size, load range and maximum limits, not for the figure to inflate to.
A five-year limited warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship for the original retail purchaser, subject to the written terms and exclusions. Normal wear, corrosion, accidents, misuse, overloading and failures caused by not following the instructions are excluded, and no claim outcome can be guaranteed. Register with Malone within 30 days of purchase and keep the original receipt. If you are buying for a business, confirm how the warranty applies to your intended use before you rely on it — contact our team and we will help you get that in writing.
Warranty registration is separate from state titling, plating and inspection, which vary by jurisdiction. Your state motor vehicle agency is the authority there.
