MicroSport 2 Kayak Spare Tire Trailer Package

Transporting two recreational or sea kayaks have never been easier! The MegaWings package features the MicroSport™ Base Trailer bundled with V-style carriers which are designed to transport kayaks in a bottom-down manner to improve gas mileage through lower wind resistance.

The J-Racks MicroSport trailer package was designed to carry two kayaks and still leave room for additional gear and storage. Perfect for two kayakers who like to get out on the water fast, easy and often.

Transporting two large recreational or fishing kayaks require a trailer with a larger payload and kayak carriers that can handle the weight. The MicroSport's 800 lb load limit easily handles these boats while the Malone SaddleUp Pro offers superior support for large boats of every shape and size.

Perfect for safely transporting two large fishing kayaks. The Bunks package includes a MicroSport Base Trailer, two Large Kayak 84" Bunk Kits and a 12" Spare Tire. The 78" cross bars provide plenty of room for both bunk kits and boats.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in this two-kayak package?

Every version includes the MicroSport base trailer with 78-inch load bars, a full-size 12-inch galvanized spare tire with a locking attachment, two sets of kayak carriers with hardware and straps, and the instruction manuals with registration paperwork.

Which carriers arrive depends on the style you select at checkout. The spare tire is standard across all four styles, which is the practical difference between this package and the plain base trailer.

Which carrier style should I choose?

It depends on hull shape and boat weight, not on price.

FoldAway-J carriers hold two kayaks on edge and fold down when empty; they suit traditional V-shaped touring and recreational hulls. MegaWing carriers cradle boats bottom-down, which lowers the profile and helps with wind resistance. SaddleUp Pro carriers support large boats of most shapes, including center-keel and pontoon bottoms. Padded bunks spread the load along a long run of hull, which is what a heavy fishing kayak needs.

Tell us the make and model of both boats and we will tell you which of the four actually fits them. Contact our team or call 844-987-5777.

How much can it carry with two boats aboard?

The trailer's 800-pound total rating is the controlling limit, and it covers everything at once — both kayaks, both carrier sets, the spare tire, straps and any gear you add.

Individual carrier ratings never add together to exceed that total, and a carrier rated higher than the trailer does not raise what the chassis is approved to carry. Your tow vehicle and hitch impose separate limits and the lowest relevant figure governs. Package weight before boats runs around 240 pounds depending on the carriers chosen.

What size kayaks does it handle?

The reinforced steel tongue and 78-inch bars carry boats up to 20 feet. That is the chassis limit; whether a specific boat works also depends on beam, weight and hull profile, and on the carrier you pick.

Two wide fishing kayaks can crowd 78-inch bars even though both are well inside the length limit. The 44-to-63-inch adjustable bar spread gives you room to move support points to suit. Measure both boats, weigh them as you actually travel with them, and contact our team if the fit looks tight.

What is the spare tire for, and does it need anything?

It is a full-size 12-inch galvanized spare on a locking attachment. A trailer wheel is not interchangeable with your tow vehicle's spare, and a matching replacement is not always available near a launch, so carrying one turns a puncture into a delay rather than a recovery call.

Include it in your pre-trip check: pressure, condition, and that the lock is secure. A spare that has sat flat for two seasons is not a spare. Also carry the tools to actually change it — a jack and a lug wrench that fit the trailer.

What hitch hardware does it need?

The trailer coupler requires a 2-inch-diameter hitch ball, and the top of that ball should sit 18 inches from the ground so the trailer tows level. That is the trailer's side of the connection. Lighting is a DOT-approved plug-and-play LED kit, so confirm your vehicle's connector matches or plan for an adapter.

Your vehicle needs a hitch with a receiver, a ball mount that fits that receiver, and a 2-inch ball fitted to the ball mount. A receiver does not take a ball directly, and receiver size is a separate matter from ball diameter — a 2-inch ball does not mean you need a 2-inch receiver. Hitch, receiver, ball mount, ball and tow vehicle must each be rated for the loaded trailer, and the lowest rating in that chain governs.

Does it require assembly?

Yes. The trailer takes roughly three to four hours with standard tools, then the carriers and spare tire mount afterwards. Hubs arrive pre-assembled and the wiring is pre-tested.

This is a multi-boxed item and the carton count varies with the carrier style you choose — shipping method can vary too. Inspect the shipment against the supplied documentation before you begin, keep the paperwork envelope, and report anything missing or damaged promptly at sales@ecofishingshop.com.

What maintenance does it need?

Pre-trip: lights, coupler and pin, crossed safety chains, lug nuts, condition of all three tires including the spare, and every strap. Follow the wheel-bearing service schedule in your trailer's documentation, rinse frame, wheels, carriers and hardware after salt water launches or road salt, and check carrier mounting hardware periodically. Straps are wear items — replace them when they fray.

Inflate to the Malone-recommended cold pressure for this trailer, 35 to 40 PSI, checked before towing while the tires are cold, and follow the trailer documentation and current manufacturer specification. A sidewall maximum is not the recommended operating pressure — read the sidewall for tire size, load range and maximum limits, not for the figure to inflate to.

What warranty applies, and what do I need to register?

A five-year limited warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship for the original retail purchaser, subject to the written exclusions. Normal wear, corrosion, accidents, misuse, overloading and failures traced to assembly errors are not covered, and no claim outcome can be promised in advance. Register with Malone within 30 days of purchase and keep your original receipt.

That warranty registration is separate from titling or plating the trailer for road use, which varies by state and province. Check with your state motor vehicle agency.
