MicroSport LowBed w/ 2nd Tier Trailer

The MPG464-LBT MicroSport™ LowBed™ is a modified Base Trailer fitted with a LB 2nd Tier Kit. The trailer's bottom load bar supports have been redesigned to extensively lower the bar height.

Now just 22” from the ground, the lower bars make loading and unloading heavy kayaks easier and much safer. These galvanized marine grade trailers can be backed down a boat ramp in order to launch directly into the water. Featuring submersible LED lighting and 78” lower load bars for up to six kayaks.

The 2nd Tier has a 100 lb. load rating and provides transport for additional gear. The 50” upper load bars provide a comfortable height (58”) to access a cargo box, bike or boat.


This 800 lb. load rated trailer is DOT and Transport Canada approved. Assembles in approximately three to four hours with standard tools. Five Year Warranty. Made in the USA.

What is a LowBed trailer, and how low does it sit?

The LowBed is a MicroSport with redesigned lower load bar supports. On this trailer the main 78-inch load bars sit 22 inches from the ground, against 30 inches on the standard MicroSport.

Those eight inches change how a heavy boat gets aboard: sliding a fishing kayak onto a 22-inch bar asks less of you than lifting it to 30, particularly on your own or at the end of a long day. The trailer can also be backed down a ramp so boats launch directly, which removes the carry entirely.

What does the second tier add?

It adds a second level of 50-inch load bars sitting 58 inches from the ground, rated for 100 pounds. That upper deck is where a cargo box, a bike or an extra boat goes, keeping the low bars clear for the heavy hulls.

The 100-pound tier rating is a limit on the tier itself, not an extra 100 pounds of trailer capacity. The trailer's 800-pound total still governs everything on the frame, upper deck included. The 58-inch height was chosen so you can reach the upper deck standing on the ground rather than climbing onto the frame.

Are kayak carriers included?

No boat carriers come with this trailer. What you get is the LowBed chassis, the second tier kit with its 50-inch upper load bars, two 12-inch wheels on marine-grade sealed bearings, the reinforced steel tongue, DOT-approved LED lighting, a pre-tested electrical system, pre-fitted chassis components and the documentation.

The 78-inch lower bars take J-cradles, saddles, wing carriers and padded bunks, with the bar spread adjustable between 44 and 63 inches. Every carrier's own rating sits inside the trailer's 800-pound total. Contact our team and we will match a set to your boats.

What is the difference between the galvanized and aluminum wheel options?

Only the wheels and fenders. The galvanized option uses 12-inch galvanized wheels with steel fenders; the aluminum option substitutes aluminum wheels and fenders. Chassis, capacity, bar heights and second tier are identical either way.

Aluminum resists surface corrosion better and cleans up more easily, which is worth having if you launch in salt water. It does not change capacity or towing behavior, and both options still need a fresh water rinse after salt exposure — that rinse does more for either material than the material choice does.

How much can it carry, and how do the two tiers share that?

The trailer is rated at 800 pounds in total. The second tier has its own 100-pound limit, but that number caps what the tier can hold — it does not extend the trailer's capacity.

Add it all up as one load: boats on the lower bars, whatever sits on the upper deck, the carriers and bunks you fit, straps, and any gear. That combined figure stays under 800 pounds. Your tow vehicle and hitch have separate limits, and the lowest applicable number governs the trip.

What hitch hardware does it need?

The trailer coupler requires a 2-inch-diameter hitch ball, and the top of that ball should sit 18 inches from the ground so the trailer tows level. That is the trailer's side of the connection. Lighting is a DOT-approved plug-and-play LED kit, so confirm your vehicle's connector matches or plan for an adapter.

Your vehicle needs a hitch with a receiver, a ball mount that fits that receiver, and a 2-inch ball fitted to the ball mount. A receiver does not take a ball directly, and receiver size is a separate matter from ball diameter — a 2-inch ball does not mean you need a 2-inch receiver. Hitch, receiver, ball mount, ball and tow vehicle must each be rated for the loaded trailer, and the lowest rating in that chain governs.

Does it require assembly?

Yes, roughly three to four hours with standard tools for the trailer, plus the second tier kit. Hubs arrive pre-assembled and the wiring is pre-tested. Fit the tier before you set the lower carriers so you can see how the two decks relate to each other.

The trailer arrives as a multi-boxed item and the carton count and shipping method vary with configuration. Inspect against the supplied documentation before starting, keep the paperwork envelope, and report anything missing or damaged promptly at sales@ecofishingshop.com.

What maintenance does it need?

Pre-trip: lights, coupler and pin, crossed safety chains, lug nuts, tire condition, and every strap on both tiers. Service the bearings on the schedule in your trailer's documentation — more relevant than usual if you regularly back this trailer down a ramp. Rinse the frame, wheels, tier hardware and carriers with fresh water after salt water or road salt, and check the tier mounting hardware periodically.

Inflate to the Malone-recommended cold pressure for this trailer, 35 to 40 PSI, checked before towing while the tires are cold, and follow the trailer documentation and current manufacturer specification. A sidewall maximum is not the recommended operating pressure — read the sidewall for tire size, load range and maximum limits, not for the figure to inflate to.

What warranty applies, and what do I need to register?

Five years, limited, covering defects in materials and workmanship for the original retail purchaser and subject to the written exclusions. Normal wear, corrosion, accidents, misuse, overloading and assembly errors are excluded, and no claim outcome can be promised in advance. Register with Malone within 30 days of purchase and keep your original receipt.

Registering for warranty is separate from registering the trailer with your state for road use. Requirements vary — your state motor vehicle agency is the place to confirm what you need.
