The Minn Kota X9 Fish Finder is a 9-inch (22.9 cm) Cross Touch control head with a 1280 x 720 color TFT display, Dual Spectrum CHIRP sonar support, and MEGA Down Imaging+ and MEGA Side Imaging+. It comes in two versions you choose as an option. The CMSI+ version includes a transom-mount transducer, so the unit has its own sonar source once it is mounted and powered. The CHO version is the control head only, with no transducer, and gets its sonar from a compatible Minn Kota trolling motor with built-in sonar, an accessory transducer, or a networked Minn Kota or Humminbird fish finder.
An internal GPS handles chartplotting and trackplotting, with dual micro SD card slots and AutoChart Live mapping. The X9 links to Minn Kota trolling motors through i-Pilot Link, to Talon shallow water anchors, and to other equipment over Ethernet and NMEA 2000, and features such as Draw and Navigate, Intelligent Depth Control and the Minn Kota Fishing App tie the fish finder to a compatible Minn Kota system. It runs on 10.8 to 20 VDC at 2.2 A.
The Minn Kota X9 Fish Finder comes in two versions. Choose CMSI+ if you want a transducer in the box, so sonar is ready once the unit is mounted and powered. Choose CHO if you already have a sonar source, such as a Minn Kota trolling motor with built-in sonar, an accessory transducer, or a networked Minn Kota or Humminbird fish finder. The CHO is a control head only and will not mark fish or structure by itself. The control head and its features are the same on both.
Sonar depth is rated to 600 ft (183 m) with the standard transducer, or 3,500 ft (1,067 m) with an optional Airmar CHIRP transducer. Down imaging reaches 400 ft (122 m) at 455 kHz and 200 ft (61 m) at MEGA. Side imaging reaches 800 ft (244 m) side to side at 455 kHz and 400 ft (122 m) at MEGA. The CMSI+ version has a transducer included, while the CHO version reaches these ranges only where the sonar source you connect supports them. Actual range varies with water conditions, mounting and boat speed.
Both versions include the control head, Minn Kota Map Card, 10 ft power cable, unit cover, and mounting bracket. The CMSI+ version also includes the transducer, and the CHO version does not. No battery is included, so you need a 10.8 to 20 VDC power supply. Live Sonar, optional Airmar transducers, the optional mounting options and an external GPS antenna for in-dash use are not in the box.
The Minn Kota X9 Fish Finder comes with a standard gimbal bracket, listed at 12.066 in W x 6.708 in H x 4.097 in D (30.6 x 17.0 x 10.4 cm). A gimbal mount or in-dash mounting kit is the optional route, listed at 11.69 in W x 6.258 in H x 3.495 in D (29.7 x 15.9 x 8.9 cm). In-dash installation requires an external GPS antenna, sold separately. Check these dimensions against your console before you order.
The Minn Kota X9 Fish Finder works with Minn Kota i-Pilot Link trolling motors, Talon and Raptor shallow water anchors and an autopilot, and networks over Ethernet (One-Boat Network) and NMEA 2000. The CHO version takes sonar from a compatible motor with built-in sonar, MEGA Live, MEGA Live 2, Minn Kota US2 Sonar, or a networked Minn Kota or Humminbird fish finder. Live Sonar is sold separately. An NMEA 2000 heading sensor works; an NMEA 0183 heading sensor does not.
The Minn Kota X9 Fish Finder carries a 2-year limited warranty, extended to a 3-year limited warranty when you register the product, on both versions. Coverage terms, exclusions and claim requirements beyond those two terms are not published for this model yet, so we do not state them here. Contact us with any warranty question before you order.
