The Max 10 with the SpringBlade Rudder System is the most compact full featured boat on the market. This fishing kayak will fit in the bed of a truck but has many of the features of it's bigger sibling, the Slayer Max Propel 12.5. The Max 10 flawlessly combines features and size, making this kayak like no other on the market. Key features include: The bow hatch area with a location for battery storage and easy transducer wiring through the integrated hull scupper.

Built in transducer mounting plate on the hull so you do not have to drill into your kayak to mount your transducer. Dual electronic switch mounting plates that are replaceable if you want to change your setup without drilling into your boat. Stern inserts built in for easy mounting of a Power-Pole Micro Anchor or a motor. Ample storage and groove tracks for mounting accessories and a Sidekick wheel system.

What water is the Slayer Propel Max 10 built for?

The Slayer Max line is built for offshore salt, inshore salt and freshwater — a broad, big-water brief rather than a specialist one.

The Max 10 is the short-hull version of that platform, so you get the deeper, more capable Max deck in a 10-foot boat. If weight is the deciding factor, the Slayer Propel 10 LTE is 12 pounds lighter fully rigged at 85 pounds.

What are its dimensions?

Length 10', width 34.15", depth at the beam 14.65".

Its 14.65-inch depth is greater than either TitanX model and contributes to the Max 10’s deeper, compact hull design. Depth buys you dry storage volume and a drier ride in chop, which is consistent with a boat built for offshore and inshore salt.

How much does it weigh, and how do I move it?

The fitted hull weight is 75 pounds and the fully rigged weight is 97 pounds. The fitted figure excludes the seat and pedal drive; the fully rigged figure includes them. Removing the seat and drive before lifting reduces the weight you need to manage.

Rooftop transport may be manageable with an appropriate rack and loading system, depending on your vehicle’s limits and your ability to lift the kayak safely. Our car-topping guide covers racks, cradles and loading aids.

At 10 ft you will want around 10.5 ft of clear space for garage or shed storage.

How much weight can it carry?

The maximum capacity is rated at 400 pounds. That figure is the total operating load: account for the occupant or occupants, fishing equipment, electronics, batteries, motors, coolers and any other cargo. Leave a reasonable operating and safety margin rather than treating the published maximum as an everyday working load.

What is the Propel pedal drive, and does it have reverse?

The Propel drive is the pedal system at the heart of the range. The headline capability is hands-free forward to reverse — you can back off a snag or reposition without picking up a paddle.

The Propel has been built since 2008 under patent 9,725,149. This boat uses the 701 Series. It runs a 10:1 gear ratio through marine-grade anodized aluminum, with an integrated weed guard, anti-slip pedals with removable hex traction pins, and a prop indexer included.

There is no published drive weight or minimum pedaling depth. If you fish shallow or weedy water and want to know clearance before you buy, ask us rather than guessing.

Can I add a motor?

Yes. It has a reinforced stern mounting area for a motor or Power Pole, with internal steering compatibility built in.

How should I strap it to a roof rack or trailer?

Use cam straps, not ratchet straps — and do not winch it onto a trailer. Damage caused by ratchet straps, and damage caused by using a winch system to pull the boat onto a trailer, are both specifically excluded from warranty cover.

The reason is mechanical: a ratchet applies far more clamping force than the job needs, and a polyethylene hull can be dented or deformed before you notice. Use properly rated cam straps according to the kayak, rack and vehicle instructions. The straps should secure the kayak without visibly compressing or deforming the hull.

How should I clean and store it?

Rinse the kayak with fresh water after saltwater use, store it out of prolonged direct sunlight, support the hull evenly and avoid concentrated pressure points. Follow the storage and transportation instructions supplied with the kayak.

Remove the Propel Drive and transport it separately. The published warranty requires the drive to be removed from the kayak when transporting, and excludes failure caused by improper transportation.

Storage matters for coverage as well as longevity: the warranty excludes damage caused by improper storage or transportation, and excludes normal wear and color discoloration.

What warranty comes with it, and how do I register?

The hull carries a limited lifetime warranty for the original retail purchaser against manufacturing defects, five-year hull coverage against normal wear and tear, and one-year coverage on kayak components. Kayaks used commercially, including rental, livery and demonstration use, carry one year of coverage on hull and components. The included 701 Series Propel drive has separate five-year coverage against manufacturing defects, with the first two years providing top-to-bottom coverage of any issues. Register the kayak and drive within 14 days of purchase. Warranty claims are handled through the authorized dealer where the kayak was purchased, so begin the process with Eco Fishing Shop.

Better than ever

I have owned Native Slayer kayaks for the last 10-15 years. I usually buy a used one
on FB market place. I saved up this time for my first brand new one and it was totally worth it. The swivel seat
alone makes a HUGE difference on my back pain. You don't notice how confining a seat that doesn't move is while on
a 4-6 hour trip. Its also nice to be able to spin around and access the whole back of the boat. This was also my first time
with the new rudders...what a difference it makes! The old rudders weren't bad but I can almost make a 90 degree turn!
This will also be my first kayak to equip with electronics and this kayak makes it so easy to put together any configuration. I also like the
horizontal rod storage much more than I thought I am beyond happy with my purchase and Eco fishing made everything easy and their
customer service is top notch! You get to talk to REAL PEOPLE who know what they are doing!

Native slayer 10 max

I received the kayak with some minor scraps from shipping which was expected. The kayak is less stable at first however it catches fast and is stable enough to stand and fish. I’m tall and heavy so this isn’t a surprise but my last 10ft yak had more stability. With that being said… this kayak is a fishing machine! I love all the small features it offers that my last kayak did not have. Additionally, this kayak features a swivel seat that sits high making it very comfortable for a small package. Downside I will say the extendable Ritter is brittle don’t attempt loading into a truck or you might end up like me snapping it in half on the second trip out. Overall great kayak I’m giving it 4 stars because the rudder simply should be more durable It took no effort for it to break in half on the second trip. Also I see people complain about the rudder steering stock I have no issues however it would be nice if they added a barley pro steering and rudder stock for 3k I think we should be getting premium steering. Overall wonderful kayak that had great features for us bigger folks definitely recommend this kayak.

I recieved my Slayer max 10 and have been preping for use. I finaly put her in the water and was really impressed with the features. This model featured the swivel seat and is why I selected this model. The seat needs some re-engineering but I’ll take that up with Native. Eco Fishing shop has been excellent to work with.
