Power-Pole MOVE PV FAQs

What kinds of boats is the MOVE PV designed for?

The MOVE PV is a bow-mount trolling motor rated for salt and fresh water, and it is designed for flats, bay and multispecies boats. The version sold on this page is the 36-inch black configuration — the shortest shaft in the range, which suits lower-freeboard hulls such as flats skiffs, bay boats and technical poling skiffs. It mounts at the bow and uses a pivot mount with a Step-and-Stow release for deployment. Before ordering, confirm your bow has a flat, reinforced mounting surface and enough clear deck for the motor to swing through its pivot arc.

How does the PV pivot mount differ from the MOVE ZR scissor mount?

They differ in how the motor travels between stowed and deployed. The PV uses a pivot mount with a Step-and-Stow release: the shaft swings on a pivot and a foot press releases it. The ZR uses a scissor mount with a nitrogen-filled shock and a Dyneema pull cord that lifts the motor up and out. Neither is better in the abstract. The pivot arc needs sweep room across the bow deck, while the scissor action lifts more vertically and suits bows crowded with fish finders or a motor mounted further forward. Deck layout and clearance should settle the choice.

How can a buyer tell whether the 36-inch shaft is appropriate?

Measure from the top of your bow mounting surface straight down to the waterline at normal fishing load, then check that a 36-inch shaft will keep the propulsion motor at least 12 inches below the surface — that is the depth it needs for proper performance. Allow additional length beyond that minimum for bow rise, wave action and normal load changes. The 36-inch shaft is aimed at low-freeboard hulls such as flats skiffs and bay boats; a taller bow or rougher water needs more shaft than the configuration sold on this page provides. If your measurement points to a longer shaft, call us at 844-987-5777 before ordering.

How much thrust does the MOVE PV produce?

The MOVE PV produces up to 78 pounds of thrust at 24 volts and up to 100 pounds of thrust at 36 volts, with 20 steps of variable speed control. Which figure applies depends entirely on how the battery bank is wired — a 24-volt bank cannot reach the 36-volt number. Thrust describes static pushing force, not boat speed and not how long a charge lasts; hull weight, windage, current and load decide those. Heavier boats and consistently windy inshore conditions are the usual reasons anglers wire for 36 volts.

What batteries, wiring and circuit breaker does the MOVE PV require?

The MOVE PV operates on either a 24-volt or a 36-volt battery system and adjusts to whichever it is connected to automatically. A 24-volt installation can use two matched 12-volt batteries wired in series or a suitable single 24-volt lithium battery; a 36-volt installation can use three matched 12-volt batteries in series or a suitable single 36-volt lithium battery. Multiple same-voltage batteries may also be wired in parallel when installed to the guide, and deep-cycle marine batteries give the best results. The positive lead must run through a 50-amp circuit breaker on a 24-volt setup, or a 60-amp circuit breaker on a 36-volt setup. Batteries, charger, wiring and breaker are not included — follow the current installation and owner's guide for connections and cable sizing.

What controls are included, and do a foot pedal and foot buttons come with it?

The MOVE PV ships with two wireless hybrid remotes and a mountable charging cradle, plus the built-in information display on the motor base that reports speed, power and mode. The RealFeel foot pedal and the wireless foot buttons are optional accessories and are not included with this configuration, so budget for them separately if you want pedal steering. Every MOVE controller works across MOVE models, so a pedal or foot buttons added later will pair with this motor. Two remotes means a second angler can run the boat without passing one back and forth.

Is the quick-release mount included with the MOVE PV?

Yes. The quick-release mount is part of the MOVE PV package, which is one of the practical differences from the MOVE ZR, where it is not included. It lets the motor lift off the bow without tools for trailering, winter storage, or leaving the boat at a ramp or dock. The mounting plate stays bolted to the bow and the motor comes off. Anyone comparing PV and ZR pricing should account for it, since a ZR needs the plate bought separately to gain the same capability.

Does the MOVE PV include a sonar transducer?

No. The MOVE PV does not include an integrated sonar transducer, and none is offered on this configuration. It does work alongside your existing fish finder: built-in GPS and Follow-A-Route through the Power-Pole app with ProNav or a compatible multifunction display let the motor and your display share navigation duties. That integration is a navigation and control connection, not a sonar one — for down, side or forward imaging from the bow you still need a transducer for your fish finder and a way to mount it. The MOVE ZR is the model offering an integrated transducer option.

Which GPS and navigation features are built into the MOVE PV?

GPS and a heading sensor are built in, so no separate GPS puck is required. The advanced navigation modes are Anchor Mode, which maneuvers the boat onto a GPS position and holds it; Compass Heading, which steers a chosen heading; Vector Mode, which holds a straight-line track; and Follow-A-Route, run through the Power-Pole app with ProNav or a compatible multifunction display. Indicator LEDs on the base show at a glance whether anchor mode is on, the prop is running, or navigation heading is active. One year of ProNav support is included.

What warranty and saltwater-care requirements apply to the MOVE PV?

The MOVE PV carries a lifetime warranty on the shaft and a three-year warranty on all other components, covering defects in materials and workmanship under the warranty terms. Coverage is activated by registration: register online or through the Power-Pole app and keep the dated sales receipt as proof of purchase. Complete terms and exclusions are set out in the current installation and owner's guide. On care, rinse the shaft, lower unit, pivot mount and propeller with fresh water after every saltwater trip and let it dry before covering; keep battery connections tight and free of corrosion, and inspect the wiring and moving components regularly.
