Power-Pole MOVE ZR FAQs

What kinds of boats and water is the MOVE ZR designed for?

The MOVE ZR is a bow-mount trolling motor rated for both salt and fresh water, aimed at bass, multispecies and inshore boats. It deploys and stows on a scissor mount with a nitrogen-filled lift-assist shock and a Dyneema pull cord. The ZR works particularly well on bows carrying multiple fish finders, or where the trolling motor is mounted farther forward, because the scissor action clears crowded deck space better than a pivot. It mounts at the bow only. Before ordering, confirm you have a flat, reinforced mounting surface and enough clear deck ahead of the bow hardware.

How should a buyer choose between the 45-, 52- and 60-inch shafts?

Measure from the top of your bow mounting surface straight down to the waterline at your normal fishing load, then choose the shaft that keeps the propulsion motor at least 12 inches below the surface — that is the depth it needs for proper performance. Add length beyond that minimum to allow for bow rise, wave action and the load changes of a normal day: a shaft sitting too shallow ventilates and loses bite in a chop, while excess shaft adds stowed height. The ZR is offered here in 45-, 52- and 60-inch shafts, and higher bows, rougher water and heavier bow loads all point toward the longer options.

How much thrust does the MOVE ZR produce?

The MOVE ZR produces up to 78 pounds of thrust at 24 volts and up to 100 pounds of thrust at 36 volts. Those are maximum true thrust figures at each voltage, so the battery bank you wire determines which one applies — a 24-volt setup will not reach the 36-volt number. Thrust measures static pushing force, not boat speed: hull weight, windage, current and how the boat is loaded decide how quickly you actually move and how long a charge lasts. Heavier boats and consistently windy water are the usual reasons anglers wire for 36 volts.

What batteries, wiring and circuit breaker does the MOVE ZR require?

The MOVE ZR operates on either a 24-volt or a 36-volt battery system and adjusts to whichever it is connected to automatically. A 24-volt installation can use two matched 12-volt batteries wired in series or a suitable single 24-volt lithium battery; a 36-volt installation can use three matched 12-volt batteries in series or a suitable single 36-volt lithium battery. Multiple same-voltage batteries may also be wired in parallel when installed to the guide, and deep-cycle marine batteries give the best results. The positive lead must run through a 50-amp circuit breaker on a 24-volt setup, or a 60-amp circuit breaker on a 36-volt setup. Batteries, charger, wiring and breaker are not included — follow the current installation and owner's guide for connections and cable sizing.

What is the difference between the "None" and "Lowrance" configurations?

The configuration option decides whether the motor arrives with an integrated transducer. A ZR ordered as None has no transducer built into the lower unit; you keep whatever transducer your fish finder already uses. The Lowrance configuration adds Power-Pole's integrated Lowrance HDI transducer option, built into the lower unit rather than clamped or glued to the hull, so it aims where the motor aims and stays clear on the trailer. It is intended for compatible Lowrance displays — check the connector and display compatibility for your exact unit before ordering, since not every Lowrance display or adapter is supported.

Which controls and accessories are included with the MOVE ZR?

The MOVE ZR package includes the wireless RealFeel foot pedal, a wireless information display, a wireless hybrid remote with a mountable charging cradle, and three wireless foot buttons — Active Heading, Anchor Mode and Reverse Mode. Every MOVE controller works across MOVE models, so you can place controls where they suit your deck rather than where a cable reaches. Batteries, wiring, a circuit breaker and a quick-release mounting plate are not part of the package. If a particular controller matters to your setup, confirm it against the configuration you select on this page.

Is a quick-release mounting plate included with the MOVE ZR?

No. The quick-release mount is not included with the MOVE ZR — that differs from the MOVE PV, which ships with one. If you want to lift the motor off the deck for trailering, winter storage or theft deterrence, budget for the quick-release plate as a separate accessory and confirm fitment for the ZR's scissor mount before ordering. Without it, the motor bolts directly to the bow mounting surface. That is a normal permanent installation and nothing is lost functionally; the motor simply is not removable without tools.

Which GPS and navigation functions are built into the MOVE ZR?

GPS and a heading sensor are built in, so the motor holds position and steers without a separate GPS puck. The advanced navigation modes are Anchor Mode, which maneuvers the boat onto a GPS position and holds it; Compass Heading, which runs a selected heading; Vector Mode, which keeps the boat on a straight-line track; and Follow-A-Route, which runs a saved route through the Power-Pole app with ProNav or a compatible multifunction display. One year of ProNav support is included. Route following relies on your phone, tablet or MFD, so plan a mount and power for that device.

What maintenance is recommended after saltwater use?

Rinse the shaft, lower unit, mount and propeller with fresh water after every saltwater trip and let the assembly dry before you cover it. The titanium shaft and multi-layered corrosion-resistant finish are built for salt exposure, but rinsing is what keeps salt out of the scissor mount's moving parts and off the electrical connections. Keep battery connections tight and free of corrosion — clean dirty terminals with a water and baking-soda solution — and inspect the wiring and moving components regularly. Check the propeller for wrapped line and the mount for play at the start of each season, and store the motor out of the elements over the winter to preserve the finishes. What warranty applies to the MOVE ZR?

The MOVE ZR carries a lifetime warranty on the shaft and a three-year warranty on all other components, covering defects in materials and workmanship under the warranty terms. Coverage is activated by registration, so register the motor online or through the Power-Pole app when you take delivery, and keep the dated sales receipt as proof of purchase. Complete terms, conditions and exclusions are set out in the current installation and owner's guide, which is worth reading before installation rather than after a problem.
