KISTLER Salt Series Fishing Rods

The KISTLER Salt Series Fishing Rods are the result of 25 years of saltwater inshore rod development from Trey Kistler, built specifically for durability and sensitivity in harsh marine environments. KISTLER describes the series as crazy lightweight and unbelievably sensitive without sacrificing the strength needed to move fish away from structure.

The blank is KISTLER KC8 100% American-made carbon, high modulus, paired with Fuji Corrosion Control stainless steel guides and a Fuji graphite reel seat. Every model in the series carries a Grade "A" cork handle and a modified-fast action tuned for inshore work.

The Salt Series spans 7 casting and spinning combinations from Medium-Lite to Medium-Heavy power at 7'0" to 7'2", covering speckled trout, redfish, flounder, snook, and bonefish depending on the model (see the comparison chart below for exact specs per model).

KISTLER Salt Series Rod FAQs

What is the KISTLER Salt Series built for?

The KISTLER Salt Series is purpose-built for inshore saltwater fishing, developed over 25 years by Trey Kistler specifically for that environment rather than a repurposed freshwater blank. Every model shares a modified-fast action, KC8 American-made carbon blank, and Fuji Corrosion Control guides.

The lineup targets speckled trout, redfish, flounder, and on the heavier models, snook and bonefish.

How do I choose the right KISTLER Salt Series model?

The Salt Series spans 7 casting and spinning combinations from Medium-Lite to Medium-Heavy power at 7'0" to 7'2". Medium-Lite is built for speckled trout and flounder on lighter line, while the Medium-Heavy models add the line and lure capacity for bonefish and snook.

Match your model to the species and line class in the comparison chart above rather than length alone, power is what determines what the rod can handle.

What line and lures does the KISTLER Salt Series handle?

Across the lineup, line ratings run 8-20 lb fluorocarbon or 10-40 lb braid depending on power, with lure weights from 1/6 oz up to 1 1/2 oz on the Medium-Heavy models. Every model publishes both a fluorocarbon and a braid rating, so match whichever line type you actually fish to the number for that model.

What warranty covers the KISTLER Salt Series?

KISTLER's own materials list two different things here: a one-year warranty specific to each Salt Series model, alongside general "Bend-Strong" Limited Lifetime Warranty branding used across the KISTLER lineup. We're flagging that discrepancy rather than picking one, since we can't confirm which term actually applies to this series without checking with KISTLER directly.

Contact us and we'll get you the confirmed warranty term before you buy if that's a deciding factor.

Is the KISTLER Salt Series good for snook or bonefish?

Yes, on the Medium-Heavy models specifically. KISTLER lists snook and bonefish as target species for the 7'2" Medium-Heavy casting and spinning builds, alongside redfish, speckled trout, and flounder.

The lighter Medium-Lite and Medium models are built for speckled trout, redfish, and flounder rather than the larger, harder-fighting species.
