Torqeedo Cruise 10.0 T Electric Outboard

Cruise motors have a built-in GPS, with on-board computer and display, showing information such as speed and input power, state of charge and remaining range, even with third-party batteries. They have a robust, wear-resistant design thanks to features such as a housing that is waterproof to IP67, pylons made from aluminum and a specially reinforced fin. They team up with the purpose-developed propellers and additional Torqeedo components to create a highly impressive package.

The flagship model in the Cruise series delivers 12 kW of peak output and a continuous output of 10 kW, which can propel efficient boats up to a maximum speed of 30 km/h. Its power supply requires at least two (Power 48-5000) or four lithium batteries (Power 24-3500)

Frequently Asked Questions About the Torqeedo Cruise 10.0 T

What is included with the Cruise 10.0 T, and what still has to be bought?

The motor arrives with its tiller control and integrated on-board computer and display, the emergency stop magnetic chip, a connection cable set sized for two batteries with main switch and battery terminal screws, a 5-pin data cable, the standard propeller and sacrificial aluminum anodes. Batteries are not included and are the significant additional purchase — this is a 48-volt system, and a matched pair of Power 48-5000 batteries is what the supplied cable set is built to connect. Charging equipment for those batteries is also separate.

Is the Cruise 10.0 T a tiller motor, and does it need a separate throttle?

It is the tiller version, and no separate throttle is required. The T in the model name means tiller: speed, direction and steering are all handled from the tiller arm, which carries an integrated display and on-board computer showing speed, power draw, state of charge and GPS-based remaining range. That is different from the remote-steering Cruise models, which connect to a boat's own wheel or rudder and need a throttle bought separately. If your boat steers from a helm rather than from the transom, the tiller version is the wrong choice.

How many batteries does the Cruise 10.0 T need for full output?

Two. The supplied cable set is built for two Power 48-5000 batteries, and that is the configuration the motor's rated output assumes. Run it on a single battery and the system regulates itself down — documented output falls to 6 kW, well under the 10 kW continuous rating. Running more than two batteries is possible but is not a self-service change; it needs to be specified through a Torqeedo dealer, and we can handle that conversation for you. Plan the battery bank before ordering the motor, not after.

What do peak power, continuous power and propulsive power actually mean here?

They describe three different things, and only one of them is what reaches the water. Continuous input power — 10,000 W here — is the electrical power the motor draws from the batteries on a sustained basis. Peak input power is a short-duration maximum above that figure. Propulsive power, 5,600 W, is the mechanical power actually delivered as thrust after drivetrain and propeller losses. The 20 HP equivalence is a comparison against the propulsion a 20 hp petrol outboard provides. None of the three is a promise of a particular boat speed.

How do I choose between the S, L and XL shafts?

By measuring the transom, not by picking the longest. The three shaft options measure 38.5, 51.2 and 63.9 cm (15.2, 20.2 and 25.2 in). Transom height is measured from the top edge of the transom straight down to the bottom of the keel. No single length is correct for every hull: too short and the propeller ventilates and loses bite as soon as the bow lifts, too long and you add drag and grounding risk. Torqeedo's installation drawings show the mounting geometry, and we will check your measurement against them.

What boats is the Cruise 10.0 T intended for?

It is specified for motorboats and sailboats up to 10 tons, which in practice means displacement hulls, larger dinghies and cruising sailboats rather than light planing craft. Fit is about more than displacement, though: transom construction and thickness, the space behind the transom, and above all where two 36.5 kg batteries can sit without wrecking the boat's trim all matter. This motor and its battery bank together weigh well over 130 kg. Call our team before ordering so we can check the installation against your boat.

What speed, range and runtime should I expect?

There is no universal answer, and any figure you see is an estimate tied to a specific test boat. Published performance data for this motor is measured with two Power 48-5000 batteries: broadly, an hour at full throttle, stretching to several hours at slow cruising speeds, with speed varying widely by hull. Displacement, hull shape, load, propeller choice, fouling, wind, current and water temperature all move the number. Treat published figures as a planning guide with margin built in, never as a promise for your own boat.

Do I need a TorqLink gateway with this motor?

A gateway is not included with the motor, and whether your system needs one depends on the complete battery and control configuration you are building. TorqLink is the data network Torqeedo uses so that motor, batteries and controls recognize each other and share information at startup; a TorqLink Gateway Set brings components that do not speak TorqLink natively into that network. Because the answer turns on exactly which batteries and controls you pair with this motor, send us your planned component list and we will verify the system and confirm the parts you need before anything ships.

What maintenance does the Cruise 10.0 T need?

Rinse the motor with fresh water after every use in salt or brackish water, and inspect the sacrificial anodes regularly — at the latest every six months — replacing them before they are consumed. Anodes are designed to corrode in place of the motor's own aluminum parts, so a spent anode is a job overdue rather than a spare you still have. Store the motor dry, and store lithium batteries cool at a partial state of charge rather than full or flat. The full schedule is in Torqeedo's operating instructions.

What warranty applies?

Torqeedo warrants the product free from defects in workmanship and material under normal use, proper installation and proper maintenance for twenty-four months from the date of delivery, with any claim made within six months of discovering the fault. Normal wear and routine servicing are excluded, and commercial or public-authority use falls outside the two-year warranty. Batteries carry their own two-year non-commercial term. Full conditions are on Torqeedo's warranty policy page. Please also note this item is non-refundable, which is why we ask you to confirm fit with us first.
