KISTLER Ultra Light Fishing Rod

The KISTLER Ultra Light Fishing Rod is Kistler's first specialty ultra light build, designed for river and stream trout, panfish, and crappie. It's a 6'0" spinning rod rated Ultra Light power with a moderate action, built to cast the lightest lures in the lineup and telegraph every bit of the fight back to your hand.

The blank is KISTLER KC8 100% Japanese carbon by Toray, high modulus, paired with a Vortex Air Guide System: stainless steel, matte black guide frames with a hardened steel ring insert, built to save weight and keep the blank's action unrestricted. A Fuji graphite reel seat and a 7" Grade "A" cork handle round out the build, and the finished rod weighs 2 ounces. It's suited to jigs, flies, rooster tails, and beetle spins, and every rod is built by hand in Texas.

Frequently Asked Questions About the KISTLER Ultra Light Fishing Rod

What is the KISTLER Ultra Light Fishing Rod built for?

The KISTLER Ultra Light Fishing Rod is a 6'0" spinning rod rated Ultra Light power with a moderate action, built for river and stream trout, panfish, and crappie rather than heavier bass applications. At 2 ounces, it's one of the lightest rods in the Kistler lineup.

That moderate action is the key to it: it loads deeply on light lures and small fish, which is what makes finesse presentations work at this size, but it's not the rod to reach for on heavier lures or bigger fish outside its rated range.

What line and lures work best on the KISTLER Ultra Light Fishing Rod?

The KISTLER Ultra Light Fishing Rod is rated for 2-6 lb mono or fluorocarbon and 1/32-3/16 oz lures, tuned specifically for jigs, flies, rooster tails, and beetle spins. Staying inside that range is what protects the blank and keeps the rod casting these light lures accurately.

KISTLER does not publish a piece count (1-piece vs. multi-piece) for this rod, so we don't have a verified number to give you there.

What's the blank and guide construction on the KISTLER Ultra Light Fishing Rod?

The blank is KISTLER's KC8 100% Japanese carbon by Toray, high modulus, built for sensitivity at this rod's light lure weights. Guides are the Vortex Air Guide System: stainless steel, matte black frames with a hardened steel ring insert, chosen to save weight on a 2-ounce build without giving up durability.

A Fuji graphite reel seat and 7" Grade "A" cork handle complete the build.

Can the KISTLER Ultra Light Fishing Rod be used in saltwater?

Yes. KISTLER confirms the Ultra Light Fishing Rod is fine for saltwater use, and the Vortex Air Guide System's stainless steel construction with a hardened steel ring insert is built to hold up to that exposure.

KISTLER recommends rinsing and wiping the rod down with fresh water after every saltwater trip. That step matters most for the reel seat threads and guide frames, where salt residue does the most damage if it's left to sit.

What warranty covers the KISTLER Ultra Light Fishing Rod?

KISTLER backs the Ultra Light Fishing Rod with its "Bend-Strong" Limited Lifetime Warranty. Every rod is built by hand in Texas.

KISTLER's product page does not publish the full written terms, coverage exclusions, or claims process for this warranty, so we can't state those specifics here. Contact us and we'll get you the exact terms before you buy if that's a deciding factor.
