Frequently Asked Questions About the Wilderness Systems Tactical Pro 128

What comes with the Wilderness Systems Tactical Pro 128?

The Wilderness Systems Tactical Pro 128 is a motor-ready kayak with factory-installed wiring and mounting provisions; the trolling motor, battery and electronics are selected separately. Factory equipment includes an 8-gauge wiring harness, 60-amp circuit breaker, stern battery terminal leads, a bow Anderson-style connector, a second connector with pigtails for a 12V trolling motor, a bow mounting plate, reinforced stern mounting provisions, internal battery storage, through-hull wiring plates, a transducer recess and the 360-degree AirPro ACES seat.

What should I know before choosing a bow-mounted trolling motor for the Wilderness Systems Tactical Pro 128?

The Wilderness Systems Tactical Pro 128 is designed for bow-mounted trolling motors that use a single-pivot lift mechanism, but fit is not universal. Its bow plate uses a four-hole pattern measuring 4.5 by 2.875 inches; a 36-inch shaft is ideal, and longer shafts can work. Some motor or quick-release combinations require plate removal and drilling, while scissor/linkage-style lift systems are not endorsed. Lowrance Recon, Minn Kota PowerDrive, Ultrex, Ulterra and Terrova, and Garmin Force Kraken are unverified - not confirmed compatible. Call Eco Fishing Shop at 1-844-987-5777 or email sales@ecofishingshop.com before purchasing a motor. Review the Tactical Pro 128 technical reference for the published mounting and installation details.

Can the Wilderness Systems Tactical Pro 128 use a stern-mounted motor?

Yes - the Wilderness Systems Tactical Pro 128 provides motor-mounting provisions at both the bow and the stern. Stern foot steering is a separate accessory kit rather than factory equipment, and neither the motor nor the steering system arrives installed. Fitting it means removing the rear deck plate, mounting the bracket through the hull against a backing plate, then adding foot brace sliders and steering lines. Hardware length and steering requirements depend on the motor you select. Our team can match the parts to your chosen stern-mount motor.

What wiring and battery setup is built into the Wilderness Systems Tactical Pro 128?

The factory harness on the Wilderness Systems Tactical Pro 128 uses 8-gauge wire protected by a 60-amp breaker, with battery terminal leads crimped at the stern end and an Anderson-style plug mounted to the bow through-hull wiring plate. A second Anderson-style plug with pigtails is documented for a 12V trolling motor. That harness is not automatically suited to every 24V or 36V motor. Higher-voltage installations must follow the motor and battery manufacturers' requirements and should be reviewed by a qualified marine installer.

What does the 800-pound performance capacity of the Wilderness Systems Tactical Pro 128 mean?

The 800-pound rating on the Wilderness Systems Tactical Pro 128 covers the kayak itself, the angler, and every installed component and piece of gear on board. It is a performance-capacity threshold, measured at the point where the kayak's performance begins to diminish, rather than an 800-pound allowance for people and cargo on top of the hull. Because the hull alone is published at 158 pounds, the share left for angler and gear is meaningfully smaller, and it shrinks again once a motor, battery and electronics go aboard. Early launch and ICAST material reported 600 pounds; the finalized rating is 800 pounds.

How large and heavy is the Wilderness Systems Tactical Pro 128, and how should it be transported?

At 12'8" long (152 inches / 386.08 cm), 38 inches wide and 18.3 inches high, the Wilderness Systems Tactical Pro 128 weighs a published 158 pounds. Its size and weight make a properly rated trailer or heavy-duty transport system the practical choice for many owners, though suitability depends on your vehicle, rack, trailer, loading equipment and their published limits. Trailer bunks should support at least 75% of the hull length, and cam-buckle straps are preferred because overtightened ratchet straps can deform the hull. Compare kayak trailers with bunks.

Can the Wilderness Systems Tactical Pro 128 be paddled, and can an angler stand in it?

Yes, the Wilderness Systems Tactical Pro 128 is a paddle-capable sit-on-top kayak, though it is designed first around motor and electronics integration. It is not a pedal kayak. The 38-inch-wide, pontoon-oriented hull and open deck are shaped to support stand-up fishing, but standing is not assured for every angler and stability in waves, wakes, current or rough water is not promised. Balance, loading, water conditions and experience all matter. Wear a properly fitted PFD and test standing in calm, controlled conditions first.

Is the Wilderness Systems Tactical Pro 128 ready for a fish finder or transducer?

Yes - the Wilderness Systems Tactical Pro 128 has a recessed transducer location along the centerline toward the front of the standing area, and wiring can run through the scupper at the front of that recess and out the matching through-hull plate. The recess carries two 10-32 molded-in inserts that accept many transducer brackets, though an adapter may still be needed when a particular bracket does not fit. Compatibility with every sonar or transducer system is not universal. Browse our fish finders and transducer mounts.

What warranty covers the Wilderness Systems Tactical Pro 128, and does it need to be registered?

Every Wilderness Systems Tactical Pro 128 carries a limited lifetime warranty for the original retail purchaser against material and manufacturing defects in the hull and deck, while parts, accessories and outfitting are covered for one year. The warranty is non-transferable and valid only on a kayak bought from an authorized dealer. Complete online warranty registration within 30 days of purchase and keep proof of purchase; the published exclusions and full terms in the owner's manual control any claim. Boat-registration rules vary by jurisdiction and can change once a motor is fitted - see state boating laws. The hull serial number and Manufacturer's Statement of Origin may be needed.
