Hobie MirageDrive Technology
What are Fin Drives?
Fin drives, like pedal drives, are propelled using pedals. Two fins attached to the pedal system flap sideways to propel the kayak. Fin drives only require minimal pedaling strokes forwards and backwards. Fin drives don't require full circular revolutions and can be put flush against the bottom of the hull in shallow or debris-filled water. Fin drives are a good option for shallow water and for operators who may have limited joint mobility. Not all fin drives are capable of reverse movement.
Kick-up Technology
Kick-up technology can save your fins from being bent and needing to be replaced. If you fish in rock areas like rivers or lakes with sunken trees that suprise you, Hobie's "kick-up" technology can take debris head on and result in minimal damage. The Kick-up fins bend backwards over debris and the snap back into place when out of trouble. In addition to being able to fold your fins flat to you kayak hull, kick-up fins add another safety element to increase the longevity of your pedal drive.
MirageDrive GT
The MirageDrive pedal system with Glide Technology and Kick-Up Fins features legendary bioengineered performance. Power forward virtually hands-free. Includes Kick-Up fins. Does not go in reverse and does not include longer Turbo fins (can be upgraded).
MirageDrive 180
Hobie's Patented Kick-Up Fins provide the power to charge through the water as never before. Logs, kelp, shallows, rocks, no problem. Has cord to pull that flips the fins in reverse so you can easily switch between forwards/backwards.
MirageDrive 360XR
The 360XR improved Steering System features a readily accessible control module (new for 2024) that allows for on the water, tool free belt and gear tension adjustments. The 360XR Drive can now be locked in forward or reverse position ensuring the drive is pointed directly straight. The 360XR can be turned in any direction and has Kick-Up fin technology.
