Top 5 Outdoor Summer Activities

Hello Summer 2021! It's that time of year again where the weather gets warmer and we start to look for fun outdoor activities to do. Before you start stressing that you don’t know what to do with the beautiful day outside your window, know that I have compiled some of my favorite outdoor activities and equipment to give you the best summer possible! Whether you are looking for a relaxing sun filled day or to work on that summer bod, you will find fun activities to do with a group or by yourself. Let's make this summer the best one yet!

1. Paddle Boarding

Paddle Boarding is a great way to have fun out on the water and get a good workout! One of the things that are so great about stand-up paddle boarding is that you don’t have to be an expert to have fun. Beginners are welcome! Not only will you have a great time, but there are also so many benefits to paddle boarding including an all-body workout, stress relief, balance improvement, and get some much-needed Vitamin D. If you are new to the sport and not sure what to wear, you can choose to wear your bathing suit or some board shorts and a lightweight t-shirt. Also, don’t forget the sunscreen! There is some equipment that you may want while paddle boarding such as a leash, fin, paddle, and pump if you are using an inflatable stand-up paddle board. We think the DRIFT Inflatable paddle board is one of the best! The DRIFT stand-up Inflatable paddle board comes with all of the accessories you will need at an affordable price.

2. Kayaking

If you’re looking to have a relaxing day on the water while still getting an arm and core workout in, then kayaking is the right choice for you! Kayaking is not only fun by yourself, but also with friends. Whether you grab a tandem kayak or you each get your own, you will be able to spend valuable time with the people you care about the most. If you’re more of a lone wolf, kayaking is a great sport to do solo as well. Just you, your boat, and some fresh air… doesn’t get much better than that. Kayaking for beginners is fairly easy to get the hang of so if you’re new to kayaking, don’t worry, you will grasp it quickly! Some kayak equipment you may be interested in is a paddle, lifejacket, dry bag, and a pump if you are using an inflatable kayak. We recommend the BOTE Deus Aero Inflatable Kayak. The Deus Aero is equipped with almost everything you need! It comes with a center fin, foot bar, repair kit, hand pump, and travel bag!

3. Fishing

Fishing season has officially started, some may have even started reeling it in around March! You could already be an expert fisherman or fisherwoman, but if not, you will quickly learn that fishing is a wonderful outdoor activity and a great new skill to learn! There are five types of fishing styles that most play around with: Bait Fishing, Fly Fishing, Bait Casting, Spinning, and Trolling. Before you head out on the water, look into your state’s requirements for a fishing license. Depending on your state and the type of fish you are trying to catch, will determine if you need a license or not. Anytime you are out on the water, safety is most important, followed up by a good time! We always recommend you take along a great lifejacket like the NRS Chinook PFD. This Fishing Life Jacket comes in different sizes for a great fit and multiple colors to match your personality.

4. Hiking

I don’t know about you, but if I am ever looking for an instant mood booster I go for a nice long hike! It doesn’t get much better than being out in the wilderness breathing in the smell of nature! There are so many great hiking trails all around the world and a ton of resources to find the right fit for you. Whether you are looking to clear your mind, relieve stress, or build muscle, hiking has so many great benefits for your body and mind. Depending on the type of hiking you are looking to do you may need different equipment to help you on the trail. In my opinion, no matter how short or long your hike is going to be, a good backpack is always very important. A backpack like the Feelfree Metro Backpack is a great idea for day hikes especially if you will be near the water. This backpack will protect your belongings from water and look good along the way.

5. Beach Day

Looking to have a perfect summer day? All you need to do is grab some friends and find a nearby beach (or lake) and you are set! If you want to take it up a notch, turn it into a party! Grab a great cooler to fill with your favorite foods and drinks. Once you find the perfect spot for your gang to spend the day at, you’ve put on your sunscreen, and turned on some tunes not a whole lot can go wrong unless someone messes with your sandcastle! There is one thing that can totally ruin my beach day and that is a warm drink. That is why I would bring along a Vanhunks cooler. This cooler will not only keep your food and drinks cold for the day but it can keep items cold for up to 7 days! It is perfect if you want to turn your beach day into a full-on camping experience.
