What is the practical difference between the Bonafide SS107 and the Bonafide SS127?
The Bonafide SS107 is the more manageable hull and the Bonafide SS127 is the longer, higher-capacity one. The SS107 is 10'7" and 34.5" wide with 425 lb capacity; the SS127 is 12'7" and 33.75" wide with 475 lb. Length buys glide and tracking, so the SS127 earns its size if you paddle real distances. If garage space, vehicle length or handling the kayak alone is the constraint, the SS107 is the more practical of the two.
What do the three published Bonafide SS107 weights mean?
The Bonafide SS107 is published at three weights: 59 lbs for the hull, 75 lbs rigged without the seat and 84 lbs rigged with the seat. The 84 lb figure is the kayak as you will normally carry it, and the 75 lb figure shows what removing the seat saves. Whether you can rooftop-load it depends on your vehicle's roof-load limit, your rack capacity, a loading aid and your own lifting ability.
How much weight can the Bonafide SS107 carry?
The Bonafide SS107 has a published capacity of 425 pounds, covering the kayak, the paddler and the gear together rather than the person alone. Can you stand up and fish from the Bonafide SS107?
The Bonafide SS107 is designed to be stood on, with a hybrid cat hull, forward cockpit deck traction pads and PerchPads on the gunwales, and its 34.5" beam is slightly wider than the longer SS127. Standing stability is not a fixed number: it depends on your height and weight, where your gear sits, wind, chop, wake and practice. A shorter hull also pitches more readily fore and aft. Try it in calm, shallow water first.
How does the Bonafide SS107 HiRise seating system work?
The Bonafide SS107 HiRise seat sits in an ultra-high position that lets you sit with your knees bent, taking pressure off your lower back through a long day and raising your sightline for casting. The SeatRack positioning system and foldable frame convert it quickly and quietly to a lower position when you want to dig in and paddle, and a sliding under-seat Junk Drawer keeps tackle in reach. How does the Bonafide SS107 DryPod support electronics?
The Bonafide SS107 DryPod is a sealed housing integrated with the Doubleheader hinge and a through-hull transducer scupper. The display mounts on top, the battery sits inside, and the transducer passes through the scupper rather than a hole you drill. On a compact kayak that matters more than on a large one, because deck space is tighter and a tidy installation is what keeps the deck usable. The fishfinder, transducer and battery are not included.
Can the Bonafide SS107 be motorized, and are SkyHooks included?
The Bonafide SS107 is not sold with SkyHooks fitted, even though photographs of rigged SS kayaks frequently show them, so it is worth knowing before you order. No motor mount or maximum motor rating is published for this hull, so we do not state one. If you want power on a compact kayak, call us and we will tell you what is genuinely compatible rather than sell you a mount that does not suit it.
What warranty applies to the Bonafide SS107, and how do you make a claim?
The Bonafide SS107 hull carries a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects for the original retail customer, and components are covered for one year. Registration within 14 days of purchase activates coverage. Claims start with the dealer you bought from, which is us, and you will need proof of purchase, the model and hull serial number, a description and photographs. Damage from ratchet straps or a winch system is excluded, and eligibility is decided under the Bonafide warranty terms rather than by us.
