Who should choose the ePropulsion eLite, and how does it compare with the kLite 750?

The eLite suits small tenders, inflatables, dinghies, jon boats and canoes where low weight, quick setup and no separate battery to wire in matter most. It is a 500 W electric outboard with the battery built into the motor, and it clamps to a conventional transom. Capacity is fixed at 378 Wh and there is no hydrogeneration, so more running time means charging.

For a kayak, the ePropulsion kLite 750 is the purpose-built choice. Both share the same 378 Wh integrated battery and 500 W continuous rating, but the kLite mounts to a four-bolt stern pattern and kayak accessory tracks, steers on a rudder-shaped housing, and takes an optional range-extension accessory. The eLite is the choice for a boat with a conventional transom.

How much power does the eLite produce?

Rated output is 500 W continuous, with 750 W available in Sport Mode. Sport Mode runs for one minute at a time and depends on battery state of charge and temperature, so treat it as a short-duration boost rather than a cruising setting.

Does the eLite have a built-in battery?

Yes. A 378 Wh, 25.2 V lithium-ion battery is integrated into the motor, so there is no separate pack, no battery box and no power cabling to run. That is the eLite's main design advantage and also its main limitation: capacity is fixed, and the battery is not swapped for a fresh one on the water.

If you need more energy than one charge holds, the ePropulsion kLite 750 uses the same battery but supports an optional range-extension accessory. On the eLite, extending your day means charging.

How is the eLite charged, and how long does it take?

An AC charger is included and gives a full charge in about four hours. Charging is done through a covered port on the motor itself — you plug in the whole outboard rather than removing a battery.

A 12 V charger and a solar charger are available separately, and we stock the eLite Solar Charger for topping up away from mains power. For storage of a few weeks or more, leave the battery at roughly 45% to 50% and top it up every three months.

What are the published speed and range figures for the eLite?

In a controlled test using an 8 ft aluminum dinghy with one operator, 117 kg total weight and calm water, the eLite recorded 3.7 mph (6.0 km/h) at half power (250 W) for 1 hour 30 minutes and 5.6 miles (9 km); 4.7 mph (7.5 km/h) at full power (500 W) for 45 minutes and 3.5 miles (5.6 km); and 5.2 mph (8.3 km/h) in Sport Mode (750 W), which runs a minute at a time rather than continuously.

These are published test results rather than a performance guarantee. Hull shape, total load, wind, current, water conditions, propeller depth, battery condition and installation all affect what you will actually see. A heavier tender, additional passenger or different hull may produce different results. Use the figures to compare the three power settings against each other.

Short or long shaft, and how much does each weigh?

Measure from the top of your transom to the waterline. The short version measures 297 x 75 x 890 mm (11.7 x 3 x 35 in) and the long version 297 x 75 x 1040 mm (11.7 x 3 x 41 in). Both shafts adjust through four positions — 282.5 to 401 mm on the short, 432.5 to 551 mm on the long — so each covers a range of transom heights rather than one exact figure.

The short motor weighs 6.7 kg (14.7 lb) without its bracket and 7.9 kg (17.4 lb) with it. The long motor weighs 7.3 kg (16.1 lb) without the bracket and 8.5 kg (18.7 lb) with it. Those totals include the battery, because it is built in, so there is no separate pack to account for.

What is in the box with the eLite?

The package contains the outboard, the clamp bracket, the AC charger, an outboard bag, two kill switches with wristbands, a hex wrench, a trim pin, a steering lock pin, the user manual and a quick start guide. The propeller is fitted to the motor.

Because the battery and charger are both included, the eLite is ready to use out of the box — unlike the Navy series, which needs a battery, charger and control bought separately. Package contents can change between production runs, so if a specific item matters to you, confirm it with us before ordering.

Can the eLite be used in shallow water?

Yes. Shallow water mode holds the motor at 36 degrees out from the transom, lifting the propeller for skinny water and weed. The motor also tilts fully to 75 degrees for beaching and trailering, and has three trim positions at 8, 17 and 26 degrees.

One instruction worth knowing before you rely on it: reverse must not be used in shallow water mode, because the propeller can kick up out of the water. Drop the motor back into its normal trim position before backing off a bank.

Is the eLite suitable for salt water?

Yes. The motor and its integrated battery carry an IP67 rating. Saltwater residue can accelerate corrosion, and corrosion damage is excluded from warranty.

After every saltwater outing, promptly rinse the motor housing and every part that contacted salt water with fresh water to reduce corrosion. Rinse before storage as well, and store the outboard dry.

What warranty covers the eLite, and do I need to register it?

Recreational and light commercial use are both covered for 24 months or 1,000 hours, whichever comes first. Commercial use — any use primarily intended to generate income — is covered for 12 months or 1,000 hours. Consumable parts including the propeller, ordinary wear, unauthorized modification and corrosion or water-ingress damage are excluded, and remaining coverage transfers with the outboard to a second recreational owner. Product registration is optional, and not registering does not reduce your base manufacturer warranty rights. Registering can simplify the documentation needed for a future claim through the ePropulsion registration page.
