In the rare occasion damage has been detected, Eco Fishing Shop will take care of the replacement as long as the damage is reported within 2 hours of delivery and pictures of the damage are submitted via email. If the damage is cosmetic and/or able to be repaired, such as dents or scratches, EFS will provide a repair kit. If you choose to replace a kayak with minor cosmetic damage instead, then you will be charged a 20% restocking fee.  

The Eco Fishing Shop definition of damage is when the kayak is delivered in a condition that compromises the hull and is confirmed with the vendor that would void the warranty.

Jackson Kayak deepens its roots in river fishing with this updated take on the Coosa line. We’ve taken our extensive knowledge of hull design for moving water and combined it with input from our fishing team to create a true JK Team Signature Watercraft, the Coosa X. The Coosa X is stable, maneuverable, easily rigged, and comes with tons of new and innovative features.

    Is the Coosa X a good river fishing kayak?

    Yes — it is the one boat in Jackson’s current fishing range built specifically for moving water, and Jackson says so in its own words. The hull carries increased bow volume for river running and manoeuvring through moving water, and Jackson describes it as its best river and small water fishing kayak, suited to river trips, river fishing, narrow creeks and tributaries.

    What that means on the water is turning and float. A Jackson team review of the boat describes turning it 180 degrees with a single one-handed paddle stroke, and a draft shallow enough that it “literally feels like it could float on wet grass” — which is what lets you work shoals and skinny runs that a longer, flatter-tracking hull cannot reach.

    At 11'8" it is short enough to turn in tight water, and the oversized transducer scupper takes most fishfinder transducers if you run electronics.     How is the Coosa X different from the Coosa FD?

    They share a name and very little else. The Coosa X is a paddle kayak built for rivers and small water; the Coosa FD is a pedal-drive boat Jackson positions for calm lakes and rivers through to coastal and offshore saltwater.

    The X is 11'8" and 94 lbs. The FD is 12'7" and 109 lbs before you add the seat and drive. If your fishing is rivers, creeks and shallow water, the X is the right boat. If it is big open water and you want hands-free propulsion, the FD is.

    Do not let the shared nameplate decide it for you — these are genuinely different boats for different water.

    What are its dimensions and weight?

    Length 11'8", width 36", weight 94 lbs bare or 102 lbs with the seat fitted.

    At 94 lbs it is within reach of car-topping for most people with a decent rack, which matters more on a river boat than most — shuttling between put-in and take-out is part of the day. Our car-topping guide covers the gear that makes it manageable.

    How much weight can it carry?

    Maximum capacity is 425 lbs. That covers everything aboard — you, the seat, tackle, electronics, a battery if you fit one, and anything you catch. It is not an allowance on top of your own body weight.

    Can I add a motor?

    Yes. The stern carries a four-bolt pattern, and the bow has a flattened, mountable area Jackson designed with trolling and electric motor installation in mind.

    That said, think hard about whether you want one. The Coosa X earns its keep on rivers and skinny water, where a motor and battery add weight, draft and something else to catch on a rock.     Is a seat included?

    Yes — the Jackson Comfort Seat 5.0 comes standard on 2026 models. The 94 lb figure is the bare hull; 102 lbs is the boat as you will actually carry it with the seat in.

    How should I clean, store and maintain it?

    Rinse it with fresh water after every saltwater trip, store it out of prolonged direct sunlight, and support the hull evenly rather than resting it on a hard point for months.

    This matters for cover as well as longevity: the warranty excludes ordinary wear including abrasion, chipping and colour fading, and it excludes failure to care for the boat in line with the instructions. A hull left uncovered in full sun through a season is the most common way owners fall outside coverage.

    What does the Jackson warranty actually cover?

    It is worth understanding properly, because it is not a flat three-year replacement warranty — it is one free year followed by two years of discounted replacement.

    For kayaks bought new: in year one Jackson will repair or replace the kayak free, with free shipping. In year two you can get a full build at 70% off retail, plus shipping. In year three it is a full build at 50% of MSRP, plus shipping. Cover ends after year three. Parts and outfitting run on the same shape — free in year one, 70% off in year two, 40% off in year three.

    It covers substantial defects in materials and workmanship, for the original owner only, and it is non-transferable. Proof of purchase is required. Claims go to Jackson directly rather than through us, but start with our team and we will help you raise it. You will need your hull serial number — our guide to finding the serial number on a kayak shows where to look.

    Two exclusions worth knowing before you rig: ordinary wear such as abrasion, chipping and colour fading is not covered, and neither is damage to the tracks or hull caused by aftermarket outrigger or wheel systems. If you are planning either, talk to us first.
