Can the NT300 be used in fresh and salt water, and how should it be maintained?

The Newport NT300 is rated for both fresh and salt water. After every saltwater use, rinse the motor thoroughly with fresh water. After each outing, check between the plastic propeller and the metal motor housing for fishing line, weeds and other debris, which is where line wraps do their damage. Make sure the motor is completely dry and clean before storing it, and store it somewhere it will not freeze. Disconnect the battery before you work near the propeller.
