Old Town Sportsman 106 Powered By Minn Kota Fishing Kayak

I was on the fence of spending the extra $800s to get the motorized version. But, I am glad I pulled the trigger. The motorized kayak will keep this mid 50s fisherman on the water a long time to come. It’s too early to tell how reliable the motor will be, but the kayak is build well and very stable. If you have weak knees or back, highly recommend this kayak. But do get a good cart for transportation.

Loving the kayak so far. Only had it out 4 times. Still figuring out best transport and launch/recovery methods. But on the water, it’s stable and comfortable. Really happy with the Minkota power and foot steering with the beaver tail rudder. Keeps hands free to fish. Have caught some good ones in it already!

I ordered my kayak early September and received it about a month later. It did take some time to deliver but it was free shipping. I also ordered the Power Pole Anchor which came early. The shipping was professional the only issue was the company stated they was going to call before they showed up. Well that didn’t happen. I actually watched the guy through my security camera unload and place the kayak. All in all the ordering and shipping process was awesome. I have not had a chance to get the kayak on the water as I had a medical procedure which has derailed my fishing for the year.(Hence the four star) This in it self not much of an issue as I had to mount the anchor to the kayak. This required some thinking and part ordering.(Through hull wiring kit which EcoFishing might want to stock) It will also give me time to buy the right trailer and fish finder and install it. I will say if anyone is thinking of cheeping out on the cart get the one EcoFishing Shop suggests. I would say if I was going to buy another kayak I would without a doubt get it through EcoFishing Shop.

Love it. This is my 3rd kayak and I couldn't be happier. Build quality, weight, and just overall design was taken seriously when making this awesome boat. Don't think I'll be changing out of this boat.

This is great for my wife who uses it to cruise around in for a peaceful, relaxing trip. It scoots along at 4 MPH and it handles very choppy water with ease. Easy to stand up in, and to get in and out of. Fast set up and easy to use. Great price at EcoFishing Shop! Perfect size with plenty of room for all sorts of gear.

Great Kayak, solid build and stable. Minnkota motor does a good job moving this Kayak along. I think the bow could be slightly redesigned as waves of 1ft or so tend to splash into the Kayak.

I am very happy with the kayak. I have caught more fish with it that my previous bass boat. The high water is making it difficult to find an appropriate launch point, dut to terrain. It is very stable and responds well. Speed is your friend when turning. I will probably replace the motor connection it, I seems vulnerable to damage. I will probably add some electrical options. Wish i knew about the one with the light already installed.

Great kayak. I will primarily be using it for small lakes near my home. It is sturdy enough to take out on open water.The tank well has a large amount of space. It can easily hold a 16x16 yak black pak and a small cooler. I like the fact that old town pre drilled holes to hook up a fish finder and transducer. I wish they did that on all their fishing kayaks. Purchasing from ecofishing was quick and easy and shipping was on time. No dings or scratches. Bought the battery from LI Time with built in Bluetooth to easily monitor the battery power. The battery gauge on the kayak only works for hydrogen sulfide batteries which are way too heavy. It is on the heavy side but not too bad especially if you use a cart or trailer to launch. Overall a well built kayak.

I bought the 106MK in the GreyGhost color and couldn't be moe satisified with the ptoduct and service I recieved. Kayak was purchased early May and arrived on Friday before Memorial Day Weekend. As for the Kayak, its the best one out there.The engineering and layout design that went into this boat is top notch. I had another motorized Fishing Kayak and had to sell it because it was uncomfortable and difficult to fish from. This boat is much better quality and worth the price if this is the kind of Kayak you want. Get it you wont be dissappinted.

It’s an Old Town so the crafts man ship is great. I don’t
like the directional rod holders. I think they should be straight. I also think they should include a mounted bar option. I am 66 and find it difficult to get out of the seat to stand. An exact lithium battery should be recommended. I had to buy two to get to the correct amp level. Lastly, an elevated plastic stand for a small battery should be included inside the front compartment. The purpose is to stabilize the battery used for fish finder and keep it dry.
The engine is great. So easy to install. The kickstand for the engine is AWESOME. It handles like a dream. The foot pedals are the bomb!

This kayak is superb, it cruises along at 4-4.4 mph (you get better battery life at about 75% power which is still over 3mph) and turns as well as can be expected with foot pedals. Its heavy by some standards but can easily be launched and recovered from a floating dock or boat ramp. I would say if you consider yourself a professional or semi-pro fisherman this is a good kayak to replace a boat but you might consider the auto-pilots with spot lock for standup fishing. For most of the rest of us fisherman types, this is the kayak to have. Cheaper than a boat, easier to maintain, will fit in the back of a truck or SUV with seats folded down and is plain ole fun, getting you into those spots that some boats fear to tread. Very happy and even the wife who doesn't fish enjoys taking it out for a cruise on Lake Lanier. Absolutely no problems ordering from Eco Fishing, arrived within a few weeks of purchase.

Extremely pleased with selection and price. Value shipping was wonderful. Instead of just accepting an order and making many additional orders for things needed, you might want to consider having a first time buyer check list to cover every little item needed. Just a thought. Haven't got to the water yet, but real excited to go.

I have not been able to get out on the water with it yet, took delivery beginning of November. Appears to be extremely well built and I am looking forward to next spring.

Love my Old Town kayak. Have caught 5 salmon out of it in Columbia river. Cruise right out there with all the big boats with my Minolta motor. Works great.

I have to confess, I'm not a fisherman. But this boat will surely meet my requirements. I'm an active 80-year-old who likes to spend a lot of time outdoors, but COPD now limits my exertion level. I have biked and kayaked most of my adult life and now with e-bikes and e-kayaks I still can with a little assist from the battery.
Eco Fishing Shop was very helpful with the purchase and shipping, answered all my questions. Kayak arrived undamaged last week as planned and is now set up to explore hundreds of remote lakes and ponds after ice-out in the spring. There is an extra space on the trailer for when my wife discovers how much fun this adventure is going to be and wants an MK106 of her own.

I cant say enough how pleased i am with this 106mk and the fast service by eco fishing would definately buy from them again. I have been out multiple times, and it is everything I thought it would be and more, shouldve spent the money and bought one a long time ago.

I have not yet been able to get the kayak out on the water. But this Father’s Day weekend I will do so. But as of quality of the kayak it is built great and with the reviews and research I’ve done before buying I hope it performs just as well. Eco fishing is a great company to order from with great staff. And a huge shout out to Michael Katz for the communication process on getting a Bill of sale to me very quickly that way I could send off to get registration and title.
