Old Town Sportsman BigWater PDL 132 Fishing Kayak

I was deciding between the 120 and 132 and am very glad I chose the latter. Much more stable than I thought it would be as long as you're mindful about your weight distribution. Moves relatively quickly for eats size, and eats the chop and waves better than any kayak I've owned. It's heavy but easy enough for me to load and unload from the bed of my truck. Well worth the purchase, especially if you're in an area susceptible to high winds, heave boat traffic, and large reservoirs.

I’ve had the kayak for a couple months now and take it out in the pacific in Southern California. Have had a great time with it fishing for California Halibut, sheephead and barred sand bass so far. Typically traveling at a minimum 12 miles round trip. I have felt nothing but confident in the Old Town big water while out in the open water. Also had previously read some reports of it being potentially unstable and have not felt that at all. Completely the opposite. It’s an extremely stable and versatile kayak. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for an ocean fishing kayak.

As for eco. Shipping was easy and received emails updating the status during the process. Was delivered with no damage.

Picked up the bigwater 132 from Eco. Couldn't be happier. The purchase was easy, and the kayak is everything I hoped it would be: fast, stable, and easy to fish standing from.

I bought my first canoe at age 15 and still own it over 50 years later. Two more canoes and three kayaks later, arthritis in the hands has prevented me from doing much the last couple of years, so I started looking seriously at pedal kayaks. I bought the Old Town PDL 132 to get back out on the lake more and to get exercise while enjoying the close-to-shore experiences that only small craft can provide. I grew up loving to fish on TVA lakes and also hoped this kayak would encourage me to do that again.
It didn't take much research to decide that the Eco Fishing Shop was the place I was going to buy from, particularly after talking to Travis. As a former sea kayaker, I was concerned with speed and the ability to deal with big water when needed. I knew that expectations of performance would have to change when moving to pedal power and had narrowed it down to the PDL 132 and the Jackson Knarr FD when I called.
Travis owned both of these boats and took the time to go over the differences and how each one might fit my needs. Since I couldn’t find a place near Atlanta to try either one it was critical to talk to someone whose judgement I could trust. The free shipping and no sales tax (saving me over $400 compared Dick’s Sporting Goods) only sweetened the deal.
The ordering process was a breeze, the kayak showed up in perfect shape the exact day it was promised. The delivery guys were very helpful, bringing it right to the shoreline. 30 minutes later it was unwrapped, rigged, and I was on the water.
The design and engineering of this boat is excellent. There is virtually no learning curve, and to say that buying it has been life altering for me is no exaggeration. Getting out on the water is seamless and virtually instantaneous when you keep the boat moored at the dock. There's no struggle to get in and out of a cockpit, like there is with a sit-in kayak. Although I enjoyed the challenge and art of paddling well, peddling this boat is literally like riding a bike while sitting comfortably. It handles rough water like a dream and moves right along at 3 miles an hour without much effort. I can once again enjoy exploring back in the coves, seeing wildlife, and in general just being on the water at the drop of a hat. I've been out dozens of times in the two months I've owned it and look forward to being able to do it for years to come.
As Water Rat says in The Wind in the Willows, “Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing — absolutely nothing — half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.”

these are the best ever. When I come into the launch people come up to me and want to know all about this " Cadillac " of fishing wonderment. I send them to Eco fishing .com and let them know they won't find one cheaper.
I've installed out riggers on mine and my wifes just so we can be safer out in the cold water. We love our yaks!!!!!

Exceptional product.

Eco did a great job shipping my kayak there was no damage I’m just getting into kayak fishing. I weigh 270 pounds. I purchased the old town big water PDL.132 hoping it could carry my weight and it does easily the kayak is more stable than I expected, and the seat is comfortable. It is a heavy kayak if you wanna put it on overhead racks, but there are ways to do it. I just slide mine in the truck bed with a kayak extender on the receiver hitch, I really enjoy my kayak

Imo, the best bang for your buck American made kayak. I've been out in two trips so far. With some muscle and good carrier racks, I've been able to top it on my truck canopy.
The pedal works well even in windy areas, storage in all the right places, pedal hatch is perfect for trash. It was big money, but well worth it.
Shipped great and even had some fresh molded plastic shavings still all over it. Eco by far had the best deal, I spent weeks researching fishing kayaks.

Not a better boat out there. sturdy, strong, reliable. you won't be disappointed fishing recreational rivers pond lakes ocean whatever body of water you will enjoy the experience

When I first started researching for my next kayak I was a little worried about stability due to reading other’s reviews. However, I decided the speed advantage outweighed the stability of the 120 pdl. Man an I glad I went with the Bigwater pdl! Anyone crying about a lack of stability clearly doesn’t have much kayaking experience. This thing is fast and stable. Stand up fishing with ease and beating the other kayak anglers to the good spot lol.

This is an excellent kayak for its intended application. It’s not a bass boat. It’s meant to be fast, cut through surf, and handle challenging conditions. It’s a paddler’s fishing kayak. It’s primary stability is a bit loose, but that’s what makes it fast. It’s secondary stability however is rock solid. Anybody who’s ever paddled a sea kayak will find this far more stable. I recommend the Bigwater for anything from casual lake trolling to offshore.

I only gave it a 4 due to the fact I have a busted knee waiting for surgery so I haven’t got to put it in the water yet, however everything about it looks awesome.

I took out my Old Town Bigwater 132 PDL this week on a local reservoir lake. The quality is great. The stability was good for sitting and standing. It was easy to get in and out off. The peddling and steering worked well and the kayak speed was good.

Big water 132 pdl is a great kayak. Super stable, easy to maneuver. Can't wait till the weather clears up so I can take it out into more open water only had it in lakes and rivers so far. The eco fishing shop team was super helpful as well

your company was great, price was even better than I could buy locally, it to a long time to get it delivered. the shipping company on the other hand was hard to get in contact via phone or email, when it arrived the shipping delivery truck was one street down, had to leave work to get it.But I can't Waite to get out on the water

Finally got my PDL 132, it took a while to get but worth the wait. What a great fishing Kayak. That’s all I can say, Awesome!
