If you choose to replace a kayak with minor cosmetic damage instead, then you will be charged a 20% restocking fee.  

The Eco Fishing Shop definition of damage is when the kayak is delivered in a condition that compromises the hull and is confirmed with the vendor that would void the warranty.

This model also accepts the ePDL+ RetroFit, which adds power assist on its own 36V 6.5Ah battery with separate published runtimes. Those figures are not the same as the factory ePDL+ kayaks.

Can the drive be removed from the Old Town Sportsman PDL 120 PRO for shallow water?

Yes, the 19 lb pedal console on the Old Town Sportsman PDL 120 PRO lifts out of its well for shallow water, weed and loading.

No minimum operating depth is published for this model, so we will not put a number on it. Pull the drive before the propeller can reach bottom.

The stern mount is shallow-water-anchor ready if you want to hold position in skinny water.

Can the Old Town Sportsman PDL 120 PRO be paddled as well as pedaled?

Yes, and a paddle should be aboard the Old Town Sportsman PDL 120 PRO every trip.

Amazing Kayak

I have to say the only thing I regret about this boat is not getting into one sooner.. My previous kayak was an angler sit in, which served me well for 10 years. My back just started not approving of long outings in it though.. So this time I was in the market for a sit on top. After lots of research, I ended up with the Old Town PDL. A few of the highlights.
- Took only 10 minutes to get everything put together and out onto the water.
- Seat is super comfortable, and even after a few hours on the water, I had no cramps or back aches.
- The PDL power is a lot quicker then I thought it would be. It also makes it a lot easier to control your drift while fishing. Previously I had to put the rod down, and paddle.. Now I can just reverse while still fishing if I am getting blown in somewhere.
- Multi rod storage all in reach.. I typically go out with 2 rods, and this set up is perfect.. with the 2 holder behind the seat, I can easily swap between rods, and I can also move the primary one to the front hole while peddling.
- The back storage area is perfect for a pup companion as well.. He previously sat in the cockpit with me, which was not great for eiehter of us.. Now he has plenty of room to sit, lay down, or look around.. He seems much more comfortable in this boat!

If you are thinking about this boat, I say go for it, you will not be disappointed.

Great Kayak with Thoughtful Design and Solid Performance

I recently picked up the Old Town Sportsman PDL Pro 120, and after spending time rigging it out and getting it on the water, I’ve been really impressed with how well it’s designed for fishing.

The pedal drive is smooth and efficient, the layout feels very functional, and there’s plenty of room to customize the setup. It feels stable on the water and gives me confidence whether I’m moving around, fishing, or managing gear. I especially appreciate how easy it is to rig electronics and accessories with the full length track system, everything just makes sense from a usability standpoint.

To start with my “local” Old Town dealer is in Knoxville Tennessee and the owner of the business told me that his Old Town rep told him the Sportsman 120 PDL Pro wouldn’t be released until July of this year (2026) and also the only difference between it and the original Sportsman 120 PDL was a couple of cosmetic changes. Wow!!! That immediately made me start searching for a knowledgeable company to buy from and boy did Eco Fishing Shop knock it out of the park! Amazing Kayak

I love my new pair of Old Town Sportsman PDL Pro 120 kayaks. I’ve had them for a few weeks now and have made multiple trips out with them. They are incredibly stable even in rough conditions, and having the PDL is a game changer. My only complaint with the new Pro model is that water collects under the seat. As I use this mainly in saltwater I’m concerned if this will prematurely rust the hardware on the seat rails. My experience with Eco was superb! I went with the new guaranteed shipping and wrap and neither kayak had any damage whatsoever. It did take some time to receive them but I wasn’t in a hurry.

The old town 120pdl pro is very stable it is well laid out for my fishing and Maryland crabbing adventures. The thing that I don’t like is the front handle it would be better if it was molded into the bow of the kayak instead of were it is now

Fantastic kayak

I am so excited. Old Town hit a home run with this one. Gear tracks everywhere. Access to the hull with wired grommets in several places. Pedal system is quiet and easy to pedal. 3.0 mph is pretty easy. Trolling at 1.2 mph is achievable all day.
