Cruise 6.0 R (48V) Outboard Motor

The Torqeedo Cruise 6.0 (48V) electric outboard motor is a powerful and efficient 48V electric propulsion system designed for displacement boats up to 6 tons and sailboats up to 35 feet. Engineered for performance and versatility, the Cruise 6.0 (48V) stands out as a cost-effective electric boat motor capable of reaching planing speeds, making it an ideal option for boaters looking to transition from traditional gas outboards to high-performance electric power. This electric outboard motor delivers strong thrust, quiet operation, and zero direct emissions, providing a cleaner and more enjoyable experience on the water. The system is available in short shaft and long shaft configurations, with options for remote steering (R), tiller steering (T), or a compact fixed pod drive (FP) to accommodate a wide range of boat types and layouts.

The Torqeedo Cruise 6.0 (48V) electric motor is equipped with the advanced TorqLink communication system, enabling fast and precise data exchange between key components such as the Power 48-5000 lithium battery and TorqLink throttles (sold separately). This integrated communication system enhances responsiveness, efficiency, and overall system control, helping boaters get the most out of their electric outboard setup.

For added functionality and user insight, the Cruise 6.0 (48V) electric outboard motor integrates with the TorqView mobile app, a smart companion designed specifically for Torqeedo electric motors. The app provides real-time motor data, GPS tracking, trip history and analysis, and over-the-air software updates, giving users full visibility into performance and system health. Whether powering a larger displacement hull or stepping into planing performance with an electric boat motor, the Torqeedo Cruise 6.0 (48V) delivers scalable power, advanced technology, and a modern, low-emission boating solution.

Equipment included: Outboard with data communication, connection to remote steering, cable set (14 ft, 35 mm²) including main switch and propeller B 12.5 x 17 HSP

Please call our customer service team to verify this is the right motor for your vessel. This item is non-refundable.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Torqeedo Cruise 6.0 R (48V)

Is the Cruise 6.0 R a remote-steering motor?

Yes. The R means it is built to connect to your boat's existing steering — a wheel and cable system or a rudder linkage — rather than being steered by hand from a tiller at the transom, and the bracket carries the provision for that connection. If you want to steer from the stern instead, the Cruise 6.0 T (48V) is the tiller version of the same motor and includes its tiller and an emergency magnetic stop key. Check which layout your boat actually needs before ordering.

Is a throttle included?

No, and one is required — the motor cannot be operated without it. On a remote-steering model both steering and speed control live at the helm, so a throttle is part of the working system rather than an accessory. The TorqLink throttle with color display communicates with the motor and battery over TorqLink and shows speed, power draw, state of charge and GPS-based remaining range on its own display. It is also what enables the TorqView app connection on this motor, so specify it with the order.

What is included with the motor?

The Cruise 6.0 R ships as the outboard with data communication and the provision to connect to remote steering, a cable set with main switch, and the standard propeller. A throttle, batteries and charging equipment are all excluded. That is worth knowing when you compare the headline price against a petrol outboard, which arrives with its own fuel system. We will put together the complete list — motor, throttle, 48-volt battery and charger — so the system is complete when it lands.

Which battery does it need?

A 48-volt supply, built around the Torqeedo Power 48-5000 battery. Batteries from other manufacturers, and Torqeedo's 24-volt Power 24-3500, can be used but require an additional cable set ordered with the motor. A 12-volt deep-cycle battery is not a drop-in substitute for a 48-volt system. Because this motor can draw 6,000 W continuously, capacity, cabling and the charger for the Power 48-5000 all need to be sized together. Tell us how long you need to run and we will specify the bank.

Which propeller ships with it?

The standard blade is a B 12.5 x 17 HSP, included with the motor. An alternative B 12 x 13 THR is offered for boats that need more thrust at low speed rather than top-end speed — heavier hulls, towing, or pushing against current, where the standard blade will feel over-pitched. Propeller pitch changes acceleration, top speed and how efficiently the battery is used, so a mismatched blade costs endurance as well as performance. Describe your boat and its typical load and we will point you at the right one.

What boats is the Cruise 6.0 R (48V) intended for?

It is specified for displacement boats up to 6 tons and sailboats up to 35 feet, and it is the most affordable motor in this family capable of reaching planing speeds on a hull suited to it. Whether a given boat planes is decided by the boat, not the motor: hull shape, weight, load and trim all have to be right. This item is non-refundable, so please call our team and let us verify that it is the correct motor for your vessel before ordering.

Does it work with the TorqView app?

Yes, through a Torqeedo throttle. App connectivity and over-the-air software updates on this motor run via the throttle paired with a compatible mobile device, which is one more reason the throttle is a required part of the system rather than an optional extra. The app adds live motor data, GPS tracking, and trip history and analysis on top of what the throttle screen already shows, and it is where detailed fault descriptions and troubleshooting guidance appear.

Which shaft length should I choose?

Measure the transom and match it. The deciding measurement is transom height, taken from the top edge of the transom straight down to the bottom of the keel; the short configuration generally corresponds to a 15-inch transom and the long configuration to a 20-inch transom. Neither is universally correct: too short and the propeller ventilates and loses bite as soon as the bow lifts, too long and you carry drag and grounding risk. Torqeedo's installation drawings show the geometry, and we verify borderline or unusual installations before you order.

What speed, range and runtime should I expect?

Expect a range rather than a fixed figure, and treat any published number as a test result on a particular boat. Speed and endurance on this motor shift with displacement, hull shape, load, propeller choice, hull fouling, wind, current and water temperature, and full throttle consumes stored energy several times faster than cruising. The sensible way to plan is to decide how long you need at the speed you will really use, size the battery bank for that, and keep reserve in hand rather than relying on a best case.

What warranty and routine care apply?

Torqeedo warrants the product against defects in workmanship and material under normal use, correct installation and correct maintenance for twenty-four months from delivery, with claims raised within six months of discovering the fault; commercial and public-authority use falls outside that term, and the Power 48-5000 carries its own two-year non-commercial warranty. Rinse the motor with fresh water after salt or brackish water, inspect the sacrificial anodes regularly and replace them before they are consumed, and store the motor dry. Terms are on Torqeedo's warranty policy page.
