The Cruise 6.0 (48 V) is the entry point into the world of planing, as it is our most budget-friendly motor capable of achieving planing speeds. Choose from short or long shaft, remote-steered (R), a tiller model (T), or fixed pod (FP).
All Cruise 6.0 (48 V) are equipped with Torqeedo’s advanced communication system, TorqLink, which allows faster and more accurate data sharing between system components like the Power 48-5000 battery and TorqLink throttles (sold separately).

What is included with the Cruise 6.0 T (48V)?
The motor arrives with tiller steering, an integrated on-board computer with GPS-based range calculation, a cable set with main switch sized to the shaft length ordered, the standard propeller and the emergency magnetic stop key. No battery and no charging equipment are included. This is a 48-volt system, so a 48-volt supply and a charger are separate purchases that need planning alongside the motor — not something to sort out after delivery. We will put the full parts list together with you before you order.
Is a throttle needed with the tiller version?
No. The T in the model name means tiller: speed, direction and steering are all controlled from the tiller arm at the transom, and the display is built into it, so no separate throttle is required. That is the practical difference from the Cruise 6.0 R (48V), which connects to a boat's own wheel or rudder and needs a throttle bought separately. Choose the tiller version only if you are happy steering from the stern — on a boat with a helm it is the wrong layout.
Which battery does it need?
A 48-volt supply, and the motor is designed around the Torqeedo Power 48-5000 battery. Batteries from other manufacturers, and Torqeedo's 24-volt Power 24-3500, can be used with an additional cable set ordered alongside the motor. A 12-volt deep-cycle battery is not a substitute. At 6,000 W of continuous input power this motor is capable of drawing a great deal from its bank, so battery capacity, cabling and the charger for the Power 48-5000 should all be specified together rather than piecemeal.
Which propeller comes with the Cruise 6.0 T (48V)?
The standard propeller is a B 12.5 x 17 HSP and it is supplied with the motor. An alternative B 12 x 13 THR is offered for boats that need more thrust at lower speed rather than top-end performance — heavier displacement hulls, towing, or working against current, where the standard blade will feel over-pitched. Pitch affects acceleration, top speed and how efficiently the motor uses the battery, so the wrong blade costs runtime as well as performance. What boats is it intended for?
It is specified for displacement boats up to 6 tons and sailboats up to 35 feet, and it is the most affordable motor in this family capable of reaching planing speeds on a suitable hull. Whether your boat actually planes depends entirely on the boat: hull shape, weight, load and trim decide that, and a heavy displacement hull will never plane regardless of power. What does horsepower equivalent mean here?
It is a comparison against petrol propulsion, not a measure of the motor's electrical output. This motor draws 6,000 W of continuous input power from the battery bank, and a horsepower equivalence translates the propulsion that delivers into the scale boaters already use for petrol outboards. It is not a statement of electrical shaft power, and it is not a guarantee of boat speed. Two boats with the same motor but different hulls, loads or propellers will return quite different speeds and ranges, which is why we would rather size the motor against your boat than against a horsepower number.
Which shaft length should I order?
Measure the transom before choosing, and work from that rather than from the boat's length. The short configuration generally corresponds to a 15-inch transom and the long configuration to a 20-inch transom, measured from the top edge of the transom straight down to the bottom of the keel. No single option is universally correct. Too short and the propeller ventilates and loses grip when the bow lifts; too long and it adds drag and grounding risk. Torqeedo's installation drawings show the mounting geometry, and we verify borderline or unusual installations before you order.
What speed, range and runtime should I expect?
There is no universal figure, and every published number is tied to a particular test boat and battery configuration. Speed and range on this motor move with displacement, hull shape, load, propeller choice, hull fouling, wind, current and water temperature, and running at full throttle uses stored energy several times faster than cruising does. The practical planning rule is to work out how long you need at the speed you will actually use, size the battery bank for that, and add reserve rather than counting on a best case.
What maintenance and storage does it need?
Rinse the motor with fresh water after every use in salt or brackish water, inspect the sacrificial anodes regularly and replace them before they are consumed, and store the motor only when dry. Anodes corrode in place of the motor's own aluminum parts, so a spent one means the underwater components have been going unprotected. Lithium batteries keep best cool and at a partial state of charge rather than full or flat. Torqeedo's operating instructions carry the full service intervals.
What warranty applies?
Torqeedo warrants the product free from defects in workmanship and material under normal use, proper installation and proper maintenance for twenty-four months from the date of delivery, with any claim made within six months of discovering the fault. Normal wear and routine servicing are excluded, and commercial or public-authority use falls outside the two-year warranty; the Power 48-5000 battery carries its own two-year non-commercial term.
