We have secured a new partnership with a white glove delivery service that will ensure ZERO Damaged Kayaks. You will no longer be required to sign and inspect your kayak. But do not worry, this carrier has a 99.97% damage-free rate and they have assured us of this. In the rare occasion damage has been detected, Eco Fishing Shop will take care of the replacement as long as the damage is reported within 2 hours of delivery and pictures of the damage are submitted via email. If the damage is cosmetic and/or able to be repaired, such as dents or scratches, EFS will provide a repair kit. If you choose to replace a kayak with minor cosmetic damage instead, then you will be charged a 20% restocking fee.

The Eco Fishing Shop definition of damage is when the kayak is delivered in a condition that compromises the hull and is confirmed with the vendor that would void the warranty.

Kayaks from the Vendor- These kayaks will ship directly from the vendor within 2-4 business day. While we cannot guarantee this option to be damage-free, you will receive your kayak in 3-5 business days. They will wrap your kayak in extra cardboard, put extra "fragile" and "no forklift" stickers on it, and do everything in our power to make sure it arrives safely.

The shad 10’4ft kayak is a kayak ahead of its time, with all its attributes molded into an excellent craft for the avid fisherman and the relaxed paddler who wants to take in the sights.

The Shad is standard fitted with a removable Tool Pod, equipped with the Tool Pod; this is an exciting maneuverable 10’4 fishing Kayak offering you excellent stability. Remove the tool pod and you can fit a fin drive, transforming your Kayak in a few easy steps. Should you wish to add a propeller drive instead, not a problem; the Shad is fully compatible with Fin Drive or Propeller Drive. You have multiple upgrade options in one Kayak. The Shad even have inserts for an electric motor on the Kayak’s stern should you decide to add an electric motor.

Hull Design

When looking at the hull design, stability was paramount, and the flat bottom with Pontoon Hull keeps the Kayak on an even keel and therefore allows confidence to sit or even stand easily. The shape and sleek lines in the hull design allow for much-needed speed and easy maneuverability. The Double Pontoon Hull allows the easy flow of water through the channels, increasing traction and increasing speed.

Rudder System

The Shad has an easy-to-operate adjustable foot control or hand-controlled rudder system and the system is interchangeable from one system to another. The Deep adjustable rudder provides great direct action and limits drift therefore keeping the speed of the Kayak. As a bonus, the Rudder blades are compatible with the Bixpy motor.

Storage Space & Seating

The Shad is equipped with a large equipment hatch at the Kayak’s bow, a round hatch behind the paddler, and a large Tank-Well in the stern, fitted with bungee cords to secure your load. The raised deluxe aluminum seating gives you a slightly elevated approach that assists with paddling and visibility and keeps you dry should there be excess water in the craft. The seating is adjustable to the front or the back and runs on a track system.

Angler Approved

The Shad designed for fishing; we added four embedded angled rod holders to assist with storage and rod positioning. Three accessory rails can take extra fishing rod holders, accessories, or a better still to mount your fish finder. A Fish Finder can be mounted to the Shad easily as there is spacing built into the Kayak’s hull for a transducer and cabling to run comfortably. The transducer plate protects your transducer and under the transducer plate, you will find pre-assembled inserts to secure your transducer.

Vanhunks SHAD - Bora Bora

Arrived wrapped extremely well, after unwrapping and inspecting I discovered a rear handle was broke in shipping. Contacted ECO and they got another one out to me right away. I haven’t been able to get it out on the water yet but I am currently getting it set up for spring. I don’t regret anything on this purchase, the SHAD is extremely well built, good storage and plenty of rails to mount accessories to. I will gladly update once I get it out on the water. I can’t wait!

First Kayak - Very Happy

I am a happy customer of ecofishing and the VanHunks Shad 10'4". This is my first kayak so I cannot compare with other brands or models. I purchased the pedal drive with the kayak. Ecofishing provided a great purchase experience. The yak was delivered with zero damage from shipping (not so much as a scratch). The first time I took it out I discovered a defect in a weld on the drive unit (which is quite sturdy I might add). I notified ecofishing and they wasted no time contacting VanHunks, and VanHunks wasted no time shipping a replacement unit (great customer service on both ends). The Shad is pre-configured for a motor and also for fishing (rod holders, transducer mount point etc.). I find the seat quite comfortable and the factory paddle works well for me. The Shad is stable and I have no trouble standing up on it. It took me a few tries to get the rudder controls hooked-up but I can now easily remove the rudder for transport and re-install quickly in the field. I like the kayak’s responsiveness. The two primary reasons I chose the Shad is the weight (71 lbs) and price. I can single-hand load and unload the yak (the C-Tug works great with the Shad). This being my first kayak, I wanted to keep the cost down, and I believe the Shad fits my needs in great fashion. Cheers.

the VH Shad has exclusively fit my needs in size and loadability (vehicle). weight capacity at 400 or 450? dont recall. Stability has been great. I load up all the gear and stow my eight year old behind me and have not ran into one issue of imbalance even in a storm. My suggestion though..Go with the VH propellar peddle. I chose bixpy and after a week I knew it wasn't for me. But you get stuck with it because VH won't take it back if it's been in the drink. So I guess you have to wait for your kayak then just go borrow your neighbor's bixpy, since everyone has one, and take off in your yak to see if it is to your liking. otherwise, it's just a $1k purchase you can toss out and get another type for 7-800$. I'm going with the propeller drive next. but through someone who understands things don't always fit out of the box for everyone and has some leeway to take back for something else.
Back to the yak. Solid purchase in my book. tracks need another screw or two for serious strength, but that all i see wrong.
